I miss this city. I miss Dominguez St, the street i was born and grew up in I miss fishing with my brother at the river next to that street. with our bare hands and a piece of net I miss that one pandesal guy and that one ice cream guy I miss that one guy that passes our house everyday, everymorning shouting "TAHO" I miss that store at the corner of dominguez and balic balic where i usually get piatos, polvoron, pancham, royal crown, stock o, tempura, white rabbit, lush, and all that good stuff I miss playing tumbangpreso, piso piso, bamsak, patintero, piko, moro moro, tagutaguan, with my relatives and the neighborhood kids I miss Gordon Heights Park, where sometimes after church services, me and my best of friends chase each other around, play around the park, throw rocks at the river after, ending the fun with sitting down at the edge, looking at the scenery, drinking sparkle in a plastic bag while holding a fudge bar on the other hand, talking about the future and the randomest of things Im young, I'm only 15, but being gone for 4 years now makes me feel like these things happened more than 20 years ago I miss those fun days I miss my friends I miss my childhood I can't wait to go back to the place I truly call Home

The passenger asked for the total bill and the conductor replied 1,000 pesos for 3? Olongapo to Angeles? I think that's too much.

I visited this area while onboard the USS Buchanan (DDG-14) from 1982-1984. I have walked up and down that strip hundreds of times! This was the BEST time of my naval career. And I will never forget crossing shit river! There use to be women (and kids) in there swimming around. And trying to get you to throw money into the river that FULL of feces! Along with Grande Island. Which was similiar to the t.v show "Fantasy Island" back in the 70's! Also, there was a soul food restaurant (Sam's). That served EVERYTHING from Fried Chicken to Chitterlings! I wonder if that restaurant is still there? We use to party seven days a week! The clubs would open around 4pm. And NOT close until 6am EVERYDAY! I TRULY miss this place!!

Back in 1969 spent some memorable time their on liberty with the U.S.S. RANGER CVA61 Lilly and Lena, I will never forget you two. All the clubs were great, my favorite was the Valentine club. I still have the smell of shit river in my memory. It actually looks good now. Yes sir, those were good days. Drinking beer, eating monkey meat, and loving up the girls.

When I got stationed at SRF Subic Bay on 11/20/1978, Rizal Avenue was going through some and went through some very big changes. Nearly all the bars & night clubs in what was called the jungle became mostly auto body paint shops, motorcycle repair shops and tire repair shops & tire dealers and people's residences. Rizal Avenue from Magsaysay Drive up to the Bajac Bajac River bridge many of the bars became furniture stores, appliance stores, a bicycle shop next door to Charlie's, Shakey's Pizza, Medz Pizza who I know the owner, Mr. Joe Sia who worked at SRF in Supply & Comptroller Department, a barber shop where I got some of my haircuts, other businesses became warehouses. The big changes that were happening in Olongapo City during the late 1970's, early to mid 1980's was the seed for what was to and did happen. The smart owners who owned some of those bars & night clubs that got out of that business and into the Warehouse, furniture store, appliance store, hardware store businesses were the very smart ones, they seen what was coming and took action.

Olongapo City has changed a lot since I was last there in November 19-26, 1986 when I was stationed aboard the USS Tarawa LHA-1. My very first time that I was there was From November 25 to November 27, 1974 when I was stationed aboard the USS Blue Ridge LCC-19. My very first liberty in Olongapo City was on November 26, 1974 & November 25, 1986 was my final liberty in Olongapo City-12 years apart. I just love the Philippines so much. I met my late wife on Thursday, January 16, 1975, a little over 4 years later on April 5, 1979 we got married & we stayed married 31 years, she passed away March 6, 2010. I am planning to move Back to the Philippines for good within the next 4 years & Live out my life there as my heart is in the Philippines.

I was stationed at SRF Subic Bay from 11/20/1978 to 3/30/1981. When I had left there, I wasen't even ready to return to the U.S. at all. I was back there on my second Westpac in early 1985, twice that Westpac, my late wife was there when the USS Tarawa LHA-1 Was on its 1984-85 Westpac, my late wife who was from Cavite City, our late daughter who was born at the base Hospital & our youngest son who was born in San Diego We're small, so as a family we had a great time together. I was also there 6 times during my final Westpac in 1986. I plan to return to the Philippines for good within the next 3 to 4 years & life out my life there.
