Wow! All those bananas are my favorites fruit go to everyday. I’m planning to practice raw vegan 5 days a week at work starting Sunday. Green smoothie, Fruits, nuts, seeds, salad, and stir fry veggies. My favorite banana smoothie is a combination of avocado, vanilla, peanut butter with unsweetened coconut milk with a dash of cinnamon powder. Nicole continue the movement and stay highly blessed.

I realized that most people don't look at specific body parts when they talk to me. They see the whole person. It was only me who was overly focused on my body, which created shame around it. The only person who used to judge me for my physical appearance was an abusive ex.

Shopping in New England for produce is ridiculous in price. 1 or 2 big bags of fruits and veg could cost $ 50+ dollars and that’s not even organic. When we go to our house in Italy I can get 4 bags of organic produce harvested within 1/2 mile for €17. And there’s tons of flavor !

Thank you for raising awareness about binge eating recovery in the whole food community. Orthorexia is also quite common in the raw vegan and whole food community. Sometimes people switch from one ED to another without resolving their underlying issues.

I completely agree, thank you! Yes, I think people who struggle with disordered eating can struggle in many different ways and can jump to one form of disordered eating in attempts to overcome another... creating a cycle! I definitely experienced versions of both binge eating and orthorexia while transitioning to a healthier diet. Thank you for your comments :)

How can I tell if I'm actually hungry or just overthinking food?
@nicolecornejo108
@nicolecornejo108 5 ай бұрын
This is a great question! I like to take a mental inventory of the food/calories I've eaten and the amount of activity I've done that day up until the very moment that I am gravitating towards food. Then I can ask myself if it actually makes sense that I am hungry right now, or if it's more likely that I am just craving food to avoid doing something or avoid feeling an uncomfortable feeling.

Download my free journal and make a conscious effort to use it at least once per day and you will start finding it easier and easier to distinguish between true hunger and when you are using food to avoid something else, or as a dopamine hit. Fun fact: If you sip your water, the body is able to absorb and assimilate much more efficiently, (the kidneys can process about one liter per hour(( I try to spread it out over two hours per liter myself))otherwise if you chug, it will bypass the kidneys and give you little benifit

There is an underlying issue here most people don’t quite grasp: If a person has spent any amount of time eating conventionally (Cooked foods, animal products, ultra processed garbage, etc.) Have accumulated materiel in the gut, referred to as Mucoid Plaque. (After 30 of age it can range from 10 to 20 lbs worth!) BTW this is your bodies intelligent response to make mucous when you are consuming toxic substances to protect the body, but there is always some of it that dries and gets stuck in the gut. This old hard rubbery, foul smelling, toxic substance is doing a few things; 1.It is acting like a giant sponge, absorbing a lot of the body’s water, keeping you dehydrated. 2. It’s releasing toxins into the bloodstream when it is hydrated. 3. It’s preventing the body from being able to properly absorb and assimilate nutrients from food. 4. The fact that it holds pieces of nearly everything you’ve ever consumed that is toxic to the body, you crave those things, when those toxins get into the bloodstream. Now having said that; There is only one real way to remove this stuff completely. Water-Only fasting, done long enough and properly supervised by somebody with experience. This will give your body the chance to cleanse and heal virtually any disease or ailments while hydrating you and the old hard plaque in the gut and arteries, and organs and all of it, you will also be able to process old deep supressed emotions too! to the point where not only will you be able to eat a fully raw fruit based diet with zero issues, but you will be able to thrive and be the absolute best version of yourself!! I highly recommend a man named Loren Lockman He not only has been living this way without any sickness what so ever for 37 years now, but runs the worlds largest and I believe Best Water-only fasting center in the world, Tanglewood Wellness Center in Costa Rica (The website is Tanglewoodwellnesscenter.com) and has fasted nearly 15,000 people on average 26 days or longer, the longest being 18.5 weeks! (A man who was morbidly obese with Stage 4 Testicular Cancer and when he was done, not only did he drop all the weight ((without the sagging skin, because he was hydrating himself including the skin)) but the Cancer completely disappeared!! Please check out Loren Lockman, (he has a ton of videos on KZbin and has a Instagram, Facebook and patron page, dedicated to living optimally, including proper fasting, nutrition, emotional and mental health, etc.

Yes, I used to watch Loren's videos regularly. While, this may be true to an extent for some people, I now believe there is more to the story. For starters, our entire gut is lined with living bacteria and the bacteria that you feed are the bacteria that thrive. This is similar to what you are saying in that, the foods we eat/ate are the foods we "crave." However, I do believe that "cravings" are more than just a physical phenomenon. I believe there is a mental/emotional/psychological reason we "crave" certain foods. Specifically for myself, I used highly processed foods from a young age (specifically ones very high in fat) as a dopamine hit and as a way to distract myself from any unsavory emotions I was feeling. I used this as a coping mechanism and trained my brain and my body to turn to food when I felt anything other than happy. In this way, my "addiction" to food was a learned habit... something that I had to acknowledge and intentionally address on an emotional level. It took more than just physically "cleansing" with the right foods... it also took inner emotional/mental healing and retraining my brain to respond to unsavory emotions in a different way. Thank you for watching, and thank you for your comment.

I believe Gabriel Cousens is a good source for anyone interested in raw veganism. He recommends 80 percent raw, 100 percent is extreme. Also the high sugar content of all the fruits is addressed. You can be highly raw without eating boatloads of fruit. I was very surprised when I saw the online raw videos with all that fruit and very grateful I was introduced to it the diet through Dr. Cousens.

HCLF makes your blood glucose skyrocket, then plummet, because your body produces tons of insulin to mop up all the glucose from the carbs. this then causes your blood glucose to plummet, you go into hypoglycemia, and you feel hungry again. THAT'S why you constantly felt hungry on HCLF. as someone has already said, it's purely physiological, not psychological. meanwhile, proteins and fats (and fiber) are known to be satiating food components. protein especially, because our body NEEDS protein and there's a certain threshold of protein we need to eat (because our bodies need it) after which, we feel full and literally feel ill if we eat more. you weren't eating enough protein and fat, and that's why you felt constantly hungry. also, i cannot BELIEVE that there were people saying that your body would just excrete excess carbs!? this is simply not true! our body uses all the nutrients we put into it, and if we eat more calories than it needs, it stores the excess. it's that simple.

Good for you. It’s a lifelong journey. Ditch the gurus and anecdotes. Listen to the longtime vegan doctors. Chef A.J. and the many doctors she has on her shows are great resources. She has dealt with food addiction personally. Her best quote is “If it’s in your kitchen- it’s in your mouth!” Also Dr. Doug Lisle, Dr. Ornish, Dr. Furman, Dr. Klapper, Dr. Kim Williams or, the potato doctor himself-Dr. McDougall. I’ve lost weight(and kept it off for years) and still eat a dessert or two every night. I’ve shook Dr. T Colin Campbells hand. He was the first to describe a Whole Food plant based diet. Doctor Michael Greger may be the GOAT though. 💪🏼🥦❤

I'm much older than you (retired) and was unhappy watching my body slowly deteriorate. I have high blood pressure, which I take a medication for, and my kidney function was reaching alarmng levels. I started going for long walks after dinner, and in December, I decided to go vegan based on some KZbin videos the algorithm recommended to me. I lost some weight and felt better. A visit to the doctor showed some real improvement in LDL cholesterol and kidney function. So I stuck with it. After the initial weight loss, however, it eventually started coming back to where it was when I became vegan. I think the problem was that the weather got colder and conditions outside got icier to the point where I was skipping many of my evening walks. Then, on Friday, I wasn't feeling so great, so off to the clinic. I was diagnosed with Covid. Fortunately, it's just like a typical flu but it has caused me to lose weight again as my appetite has been suppressed. I can relate to your binge/restriction problems. There might be some of that I need to work through.
