@@brucea822 Well i used the stock LS computer from the truck to control both the engine and transmission. they are pretty easy to setup to run as a standalone LT1Swap.com has some EXCELENT info on how to do that. i do have a video sitting waiting for editing about that I think. the only difference from what I did is that I recommend keeping the jeeps stock fuse box and tieing in the ls harness to power off that and trigger the fuel pump relays and stuff. i used the truck fuse panel and it did cause a lot of extra work. lots of people have done ls swaps and most keep; tteh stock fuse panel. the only other thing I have to deal with is guages and there's a lot of ways you can go about that

Hello mate. Nice video - i have learnt a lot just by watching. I have got a 986 2,5 5-speed myself and am having problems with gearbox. Local mechanics just exchange them completely here, they dont repair😢.. but the issue is the 5th gear- ot doesnt go in - it just happened and there was no warning before. I dont get any noises or so; it is as if it blocked by something. Any thoughts? I will be very thankfull for any help

if it is refusing to go into gear and you can feel the shift lever doesnt want to move into that position then that means everything is still connected so my guess is one of three things 1)would be that the shift fork has jumped out of its slot ont he syncro or 2) the teeth on the syncro have been wiped out somehow or 3) something is lodged in the syncro a good test to conduct would be to see if the transmission will go into 5th while the car is parked and not running. if it does then likely your problem is 2)... if it doesn't then that means 2 is pretty unklikly. i was able to order the parts for my gearbox through porshe cogscogs.com had good part diagrams www.cogscogs.com/Boxster-Manual-Transmission-Type-986_c_189.html

I've done this job- and your B is a proper rotter! Check the rear spring hangers are ok- especially the front ones- they are a bugger to do. In the UK we call that skinny full length piece that you weld the outer sill to the 'diaphragm' and the much folded piece along the bottom is a 'Castle rail'. Just for info. Good luck!

Really good to see this being done properly. Sills / Rockers are so often replaced without the bracing you have done. Buying a "restored" MGB is a real problem as so many have been simply botched and this car is so easy to botch up with some patches and cut in panels. Best bet is to buy a rust bucket and get someone like you to do a decent job.

I was going to build one for my racecar, but ran out of time and just put the stock ECU back in and left the distributer in the engine instead of cop. That was over 5 years ago I think. Today the arduino mega is just as obsolete/slow as megasquirt. I actually built my own EFI for a 1960 tractor using a 8mhz msp430. It maxed at 3500rpm, so a really slow ecu was ok.

@breadboxracingand4x4
@breadboxracingand4x4 9 ай бұрын
is that simpler? in my opinion a little wiring work is easier and simpler than a whole bunch of extra plumbing and running new wires and harnesses for the controller and guages. that route would also have been quite expensive. vs this which was essentially free cause i already had the parts from the truck
@merrittmcdowell8675
@merrittmcdowell8675 9 ай бұрын
@@breadboxracingand4x4 yea it would definitely cost more but i was just thinking it would super nice to eliminate so much emissions crap lol to me running gauges is easy versus pin out figuring out. Wiring harness adapting is frustrating as hell to me and it seems nothing ever works right without a bunch of adapting lol. You could even swap in a built th400 or 700R4 with a 205 case and have almost no wiring to deal with. Basically an early 70s chevy drivetrain. Just ideas I'm having while binge watching your swap videos.
