Hey, do you have any advice for someone trying to buy a 911?
@ChrisPRicciardi Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. What was required to remove and install the soft top? Looks like a significant portion of your interior had to be removed? Considering swapping out mine for a different color top.

I sold the car after about a year and removed the PPF for the new seller. The paint looked pristine underneath. My DIY job honestly always irked me a little bit. If you're thinking about doing it yourself, I'd start on a car with simpler front bumper design. I did stone guards on a 993 which came out perfectly several years ago; this was an order of magnitude harder.

In retrospect I'm almost positive that this was operator error -- I think I was pressing Resume while intending to press Set, and since I hadn't set a speed yet, resume did a double-beep as an error message. I had only had the car for about a week and muscle memory from a previous car had me mixing up the buttons. I was so focused on the odd behavior that I wasn't actually looking at my thumb.

I have a 2017, same color as that car, there are no chips on the bumper; I'm guessing because the bumper is flexible plastic. I do have extremely small chips on the hood, but in my opinion it's not that much of a problem to wrap it.
@dlg54852 жыл бұрын
Good on ya but there is no way in hell I'd DIY PPF. I'm pretty handy, but I don't mind paying a pro for something like this because it has to be done just right or else it looks terrible.

How is it after fully drying? Any lifting in corners? Regret doing it yourself? I'm very tempted to try. Local shops want 1k to do it

This is Exactly whats happening to my 2022 honda civic. Did you had the same issue until now? Or Did you ever fix the problem?

Apparently you have to keep the ACC pressed for more than one second - this toggles the cruise control back and forth.

I like to just get the front bumper protected. Am I the only one?
@BN992392 жыл бұрын
It's not enough. If you're doing it yourself, then I guess some protection is better than none and it's a quicker process, but if you're paying someone to get it done, then it's better to just get the entire front covered. I got the entire front of the car and the doors all covered in XPEL, even the painted parts on the inside of the doors since people tend to rest their arm there, with jewelry, watches and whatnot. The car is so low that whatever is going to hit your bumper is likely going to hit your hood too. Might as well protect all of it if you're going to spend money.

I've seen how people screwup window tint. Working with the multiple contours on a car would be very difficult for a DIY'er. I had a professional do my MX-5 ND. Love it.

Did you have to replace the soft top because the old one was damaged? Also, it looks very risky climbing into the car when on stands like that....?
@paulstanley2409 Жыл бұрын
Esco jack stands are super stable. Top was out for a rollbar install. I would not advise removing the top for the rollbar install actually.

So kit basically from the doors forward? Didn't have Top or Doors back right. Been wanting to do this on my 21 ND2. Is there an ambient temperature you need to be within when applying?
@978Kitcat2 жыл бұрын
I have been stranded 2x in the last 8 weeks, at considerable cost and inconvenience. My ‘19 ND has been sitting at the Mazda dealership for 5 of those 8 weeks. First limp mode event ended with me parked dangerously close to the interstate while I waited 90’ for the flatbed. After 2 weeks the dealership replaced a throttle body and sent me on my way That fix lasted 3 weeks. Again I went into limp mode, but was close to a dealership so no flatbed was needed, i was able to get there in spite of my 20 mph top speed. Tho i was far from home, they were not able to provide a loaner or even a rental. Their attitude eas it was my problem, not theis. IAnd to make this point, they said the soonest they could look at it was 3 weeks, even though its under warranty. So, It’s been sitting there 3 weeks. They say it needs a new wiring harness for the emissions system. Unfortunately for me, again not their problem, no such replacement harness can be found. But they will let me know when one is.

My car went into limp mode about two miles from home oh about 10K miles ago. When I got to my street power returned and everything was normal. I took it to the dealership and they couldn’t find anything wrong. It’s been about a year and the problem hasn’t duplicated.
@paulstanley24093 жыл бұрын
Dealer resolved the problem by replacing the throttle body, PE31-13-640, stating that the original failed testing and there is a TSB about this. 6,500 miles on the car.

It was the fuel pressure sensor on the rail. $40 Bosch sensor fixed it right up, has not happened a single time since.
