The more I play the more I like the game. I think the soundtrack, while good, lacks energy. If you can, I suggest you keep the FX and mute the soundtrack and play with the music of Lazy Laser. Anyway, check his music if you like space cowboy ambiance, it's really good!

Im 18hrs in and i cant get and hour of play without the game crashing. Have had the recent patch added but it hasn't helped this particular glitch. Love the game, very addictive, agree witth previous poster about the size of the writing, which, for me, is an issue. If you're going to release a handheld version of the game, you could at the very least make it legible. We were able to pre-order the game in the summer for a September release, and it's still not ready for hand held imo.

I hate how small everything you have to read is when you use the switch without a TV. I would love to play it in bed before going to sleep but it's so hard to read!

Yeah, it's just a product of a game made for either PCs outright or larger screens that haven't had provisions built in or implemented for scaling considering handheld mode. I've gotten to the point where unless it's especially critical or bad I don't mention it... since it's sort of beating a dead horse unfortunately

I disagree! I am at chapter five now, and I adore this game. The lack of combat let's me focus on the exploration and the story and world on the game. The developers made a very good job in designing this world and driving the Van feels really good in the game. Yeah the quests are mostly fetch quests, but in this game I really don't mind, because you are the one with the car and so you are the only one who can savely do them. I am happy I got it🙂 But I wouldn't recommend this game for everyone. There is really no tension in the Gameplay.🙂

@@denycast There's always room for people to enjoy anything, and I wouldn't discount that fact. Just without some tension, and what ends up being quite a flat overall experience then, this is tougher to advocate for.

Yes, due to the volume of playing and reviewing an average of 15 - 20 games a week (and this is only my "hobby"), and my voice and capability of reading well from a script are garbage, this was the best option I had for producing video reviews, something people had been requesting for years.

I'd hold River City Girls up as being a bit more deep and satisfying. This is pretty great junk food beat-em-up action though. Varied enough and tasty at least for a bit.

I totally agree with your thoughts on this game. I've been struggling with the performance on the Switch, and I'm considering to stop playing it for a while until it gets patched (hopefully). Honestly, that's very unfortunate because the game is so much fun.

Yeah, it's a bit heartbreaking since I'd played it first on PC and was ready to score it on Switch well over a 9 if it had performed as it should. Just sucks that one of my games of the year won't be able to get such accolades for its poor showing out of the gate on the system.

Yeah normally a not perfece performance doesn't bother me.... but on this game it does. I wouldn't mond some more loadong screens if that would better the performance somehow. I guess rendering the book and the outsideworld at all time is to much for the switch. 😅

Are those jumps/skips with the character movement (where you disappear and reappear in a different place) present in the real footage, or is it a product of YT? I only ask because there has been plenty of Switch games that actually released with this exact problem (skipping frames randomly). Thanx!

In this case it's a product of my original review video being lost, which then made me use a rip of my own video from KZbin for the footage... and YT for whatever reason hasn't been terribly happy with my uploads recently after not having issues for quite some time. Still trying to find new settings to minimize it, but usually in my review videos you wouldn't see it since they're from the originals and when I use the 4k settings for the reviews it doesn't seem to have the same issue.

@@iraymundcastro8632 One thing I've learned though playing so many varied indie games is that not every game is intended for everyone, and that means within any given genre you see wide spectrums of style... and that's a good thing. Some people want tough, or combat, or maybe even some roguelike flair, and others like exploration or simply a flavor they haven't seen before. My goal is to try to help everyone on that entire spectrum find the best available matches to all of those tastes. There's plenty of tougher fare in the genre out there, no need to begrudge something not in that vein. Even if the audience could even be smaller, that's the beauty of indie games, they can reach out to just about anyone if people can find the right game for themselves.

I was thankful for the demo for this because it saved me $30. If i hadn't tried it, i might have actually bought this cringe game. I think I'd rather go buy 6 of the 10 Atari Recharged games or a couple vintage Cotton games while they're on sale. I could see someone aged 8-12 liking Yars Rising if they haven't heard all these tired, sarcastic jokes somewhere else already.

I'm sort of on the fence with it. There's aspects of it that are at least fresh and different, and if you have a connection to the original game the hacking is at least novel. That said, there's an element of it not seeming to know who it is trying to appeal to as well, so it's a bit muddled.

I really like your videos my friend. You do a really good job. I want to share some constructive feedback because I want to see your channel grow. Your review was really good and some great humor thrown in. I really think that your channel would benefit tremendously from dropping the AI voice and using real human speech. AI speach sounds cold and lacks personality and warmth. It has the added downside of making the review sound like it was written by AI and or just copied from another reviewer and just auto read by AI because so many channels do that. It's very obvious that you wrote that review and didn't use AI but it sounds like it and I really think that using your own voice would bring the charm, warmth and quality to a whole new level. Anyways please take this as a compliment and just wanting to help out because you do such a good job man. I just want to see your channel succeed. God bless Chris from California

@chrisjohnson9542 I understand with the human voice angle, but given this is my hobby, my natural speaking voice is generally soft, and I read from copy like garbage it's the only realistic way for me to do video reviews, which people have requested for eons. Just crossed 4,000 Switch reviews and essentially the voice is my only real compromise and I can't see a time effective (and equally low stress) alternative.

Check out phoenotopia! Amazing Amazing game. Also monster boy, aggelos, and the megaman battle network collection. All have very fast battle mechanics.

The switch is great for cozy gaming, in bed, but for long rpg like skyrim or witcher or anything like that (i m addicted to dark fantasy action rpgs) , i was happy to have em on switch o.c, but on a PC wld be waaaay better, especially w the modding community, and with alkahest or kingdom come deliverance 2 coming, i m gonna need another system.🤷🏼♀️
