At 25 weeks I began to leak colostrum and noticed a build up of pressure in my breasts. I consulted with my midwife and she advised that I was able to hand express and collect the colostrum, no more than three times a day. She said at 37 weeks it would be safe/acceptable to begin pumping if I wanted. Pumping before week 37 could have caused contractions. Always consult with Your medical team. Most likely for safety reasons, people on the internet (be them professionals or not) have to give you the most cautious advices. Which is for the best, as everyone’s body and circumstances are different. So take the information online as advice and directly ask your own physicians💕

I’ll never understand this logic the medical field has. No pumping because it can cause contractions. No nipple stimulation bc it can release oxytocin. But I can orgasm which DEFINITELY causes both to happen? Make it make sense lol these people know nothing about physiology.

My milk came in early with my second baby started leaking everyday so i started collecting my colostrum at 23 weeks and thats fine. You cant just say "never collect before 37 weeks" every body and pregnancy is different

Unfortunately I do have to because I can’t give advise that isn’t medically correct . Having said that if things are advised different in different medical circumstances then that’s ok no judgment but I do need to put out the correct medical advice

@@milkmakingmamaif you want to be “medically correct” you can advise people not to collect before X amount of weeks as breast and nipple simulation can cause oxytocin to be released and can increase the chance of preterm labour. This is a small chance but it’s better to be safer than sorry. What gets me is that things like sex and massaging which also release oxytocin, aren’t considered dangerous ? Why is that ?

I had no idea how complex breast feeding was until I started watching your little clips. Like I had no idea how important it was to eat right so the breast milk is as nutritious as possible.
