Am I seeing that right that each link had four 212a (Rod and Strip Connector Right Angle) parts? That's about 256 of them. How does one source that kind of quantity?

Where can I buy something like this?
@JohnDavies-cn3ro4 ай бұрын
Try Frizinghall Model Rail, Norfolk, where I've bought Meccano in the past.

There is no parts list for this unfortunately. Best to contact the dealers for parts. It will be expensive!

One of the best, if not the best, Meccano models I've ever seen. What's that one green piece doing in there ruining the colour scheme?😁😁😁
@craiglonghurst6 ай бұрын
I originally built the frame in mid green but rebuilt in zinc. Don’t worry - I’ve replaced the remaining green parts with zinc since SkegEx 😊

Full video with explanation and demonstration: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5LWcplsacuJd5Y This working model of the machine used by the Germans in World War II to encrypt and decrypt secret messages was built by Craig Longhurst and is shown here at International Meccano Model Show in 2024. It came in at 2nd place in the Best Model competition that year. We have a playlist of other models from the International Meccano Model show here: kzbin.info/aero/PLhOLTiCBptCJ9Oac56dkx3AUqSnwCaFCu

Someone get this man some depleted Uranium so that the counterweight may be shortened, enabling the fighter to go straight up (and over).

The Eurofighter does barrel roll (i.e. goes upside down) which unfortunately was not captured on this excellent video - John Thorpe

Mind boggling Meccano skillz. What next, a Lorenz 'Fish' cipher machine? And then the Colossus to break it? :) Well done Craig!
@ChrisShute627 ай бұрын
Congratulations Craig! Few people have the skills and understanding to achieve all this, so close to the original.

I did think of asking him if he was doing a Bombe for next year's show, but thought better of it 😄
@michaelberg96566 ай бұрын
@@ZXGuesser A Bombe might be possible, (it's basically 32 Enigmas all going at once) but it would be difficult to make 3,200 valves out of Meccano 😁😁

When the back cover is fitted, I think the automaton looks a bit deformed. The mechanism, if rearranged, might fit into a slimmer torso. At present, there's room for a large rechargeable battery!

Awesome model. Is this made out of erector set? Was it made for Thomas Heatherwick?
@LondonMeccanoClub9 ай бұрын
Yes, it is Meccano (Erector was the US brand name until relatively recently). It wasn't made for Heatherwick but his studio know about it and interviewed Alan about it for their website (that video is also on this channel too.)
