Get a cotton towel, get it wet, wring it out, shake it open and then place over the saucepan on fire, then turn off the stove. Do not use a fire extinguisher or water as neither of these will work on oil fires. She is useless at cooking, zero sense of smell and therefore taste. The man is useless too, no idea about anything. Is this the new millennials everyone has been talking about? If that saucepan had more oil in it, this would have been a new apartment fundraiser video 🤣

Had this happen at my house when i was a kid like 3 times. Luckily the kitchen was right next to the sliding glass door to the backyard with a concrete patio outside. All 3 times, my dad picked up the flaming pan and set it on the concrete outside and then blasted it with extinguisher. The third time it happened was really bad like this one. It only took like 10 seconds for the flames to totally melt and warp the oven hood above the stove, and the cabinets above that. Mom wasn't allowed to cook with oil, or pan fry anything after that lol...

fun fact, you need a kitchen specific fire extinguisher or you will cause an explosion. info ? the fire fighter who told me i saved everyones lives by making it a point to say "my kitchen stove caught fire" because it allowed the neighbor to use the correct retardant . i get you want to help people but PLEASE dont tell people this. your father used a KITCHEN fire extinguisher , not a fire extinguisher. this is not semantics, this is life or death. im glad the man was level headed enough to handle these issues and was a good role model for you aswell. but also , most people have no idea that oil should NEVER be used on high heat. never never never never never EVER. i have worked in several food places where we used cooking oil and trust me the reason your father had to deal with fire is because someone cranked your electric stove up way too high. i bet it was even one of those older one from the 70s with the old black buttons you have to really press down on to get them unstuck. a whole unit made of goddamn plastic essentially , and tons of contractors jsut put that shit in peoples homes !!! im glad yall never lost a home to this , its extremely common niche fire damage. the TLDR , dont cook anything on the highest setting of an electric stove unless its water , they are death traps with oil especially

question aren’t most fire extinguishers just removing the oxygen with some other gas/foam and therefor would still be useable and the reason that you saying it was a kitchen fire was so they didn’t use water instead?

Always keep a large pan around. You can extinguish the fire by placing the pan upside down on top of the fire. It's also good to keep a fire extinguisher in any home...

@@josephjoe4180 First, never extinguish an oil fire with water, it will end in a catastrophe. Wet the towel so that it does not start to burn. If you place the wet towel over the pan, the fire will simply be smothered because the oxygen will be used up in a second. I've actually used this on an oil fire before and it works.
