I had to install the Arduino Proffie plugin before the USB Type option appeared for me. If my physical board says, "Proffieboard 2.2" can I use the 3.6 option?

4:22 If I have one board thats 2.2 and another that's 3.6, does that mean I have to go to Board Manager and remove 3.6 and install 2.2 and vise versa every time I want to upload fonts?

I think it would be better for you to keep all up to date with 3.6 It's been a while since I've touched any lightsabers or into this hobby, so there may be new updates for the proffie

Mostly accurate tutorial, but there’s a few issues with it that can confuse beginners. Turning on the saber while it’s connected to the microUSB will only fry your board if your battery is inserted and the kill switch is on. Even then, at that point just plugging the board in would fry it. The kill switch doesn’t actually do anything when the battery is removed, so it doesn’t matter if the kill switch is in the on or off position when you’re flashing the board, unlike what you said.

all of this for 1 SOUNDFONT... k I'm just going with cfx. Its smooth swing is not bad compared to proffie its not even noticeable and for %99 of the time, its going to be alright

I do agree that CFX and Xenopixels are pretty much one of the easiest to handle with But that's why Proffie exists, to give people a choice of full-on customization which I understand can be tedious (even though most videos regarding this topic last for 45 minutes) So clearly, this video is not for you.

Go to 8:54, see how many your blade configuration is If it says NUM_BLADES 3 for example, then you have to paste the blade style three times

Try to load your original config file and flash it, if it works then there might be a missing comma in your bladestyle code If your original config file also doesn't work, then the proffie board may not be plugged in properly

Good vid. You missed adding the Additional Boards URL in Arduino preferences. If you dont do that step, the Proffieboard plugin won't show up in Boards Manager.

Then you don't have a Proffieboard, you have a Xenopixel board Xenopixel boards come with preset blade and ignition designs that you cannot change, however, you can ASSIGN them to the sound fonts you place in your SD card without these complicated steps, that's why putting a new soundfont is as easy as drag and drop for xenopixels With Proffieboard, you have the capability to customize blade and ignition designs, however, you have to manually flash it to the board, proffieboards wont recognize your soundfont if you just drop them on the SD card

Posted this on the crucible, too, but figured it couldn’t hurt to ask here, too. I just tried my first foray into editing my proffieboards. I was able to add some blade styles successfully, but for some reason, after uploading the updated config, it has changed all of my button/motion controls. I no longer have in hilt volume control (holding aux does nothing), and it added some strange gesture controls. for example, if I hold power and clash the saber, it enters a mode where it switches through fonts by rotating the saber? I just want the basic two button controls. any idea where this might be going wrong? I thought maybe the config on my sd card was faulty, but the same issue occurred with multiple sabers with different blade configs. any thoughts? thanks in advance.

The only thing capable of changing that is the #define commands on top of your config file So, there's a chance that you used an entirely different config tile from the one inside your saber's SD card If that's the case, get your original config file from your saber's SD card (which contains the right #define commands specifically designed for your saber), follow the step on 04:30 and add in your custom soundfont commands But if that's not the case then let me know, I'll try to think of something

@@saberglove9638 I used the .h config file that was preloaded on my sabers sd card. Do you think they included the wrong config? It was a random company on ali, so it’s possible.

@@saberglove9638oh, also, the same thing happened with two sabers from different companies. So, they’d both have to have the wrong config. Is it in the .ino file I’m using? Thanks again for taking the time to answer and so quickly. I think I’ll just have to upload my config to crucible to see if someone can see.

I've gone through the long process of watching those videos, and the reason why it's long is that they provide a lot of context on every step you do (which is good), and also troubleshoot every possible problem you'll face, so we can't discredit them for it My video, on the other hand, is pretty much a straightforward spoonfed version Nonetheless, I hope this helps, and if you're having a hard time I'll do my best to reply :)

bought my first proffie friday two issue mine froze on me last night had to remove the battery then it started making a single alarm noise have no idea not edit and setting just wondering if this is normal

It happens to mine from time to time, usually I make sure the battery is at 100% and I just restart the proffie Not sure how exactly it happens, I think it's because the soundfont is too complicated and you're giving the lightsaber way too many commands in a short amount of time Though Isuggest you "re flash" your proffie board, meaning just go through this guide and flash the board with the default config files without tweaking anything, that should help

Happens to a couple of mine, too. It’s super annoying! I always just remove the battery and reinsert. Please respond if you find the reason or what causes it and how to fix it. I’ll let you know if I figure it out.

There's a chance that the config file is working, but the soundfonts in the file don't match the names on your SD Card's soundfont profile So, try to get the SD card of your lightsaber and get the names of your soundfont folders, then go back to your config file and add in the appropriate names

Hey there, if it's grayed out then you may need to download "zadiq" it pretty much installs a driver on your computer so Arduino can detect the bootloader After that, check out the bottom of the description of this video and let me know how it goes!

That is false. Using a charging only cable will NOT fry the board. Even a data transfer cable still powers the board. Stop the misinformation.

Sure, using a charging-only cable will not fry the board But why would you use one in the first place? To see whether or not it fries the board and nothing else for the sake of the argument? Doesn't make sense. I did say to make SURE you're using a data transfer cable, that's the information that matters here

Hello, I know it's been a while and I apologize for the late reply It's either you're not using a proffie board (xenopixel) or it's placed on a different folder, either way you can try to find a config file on the internet and place it in your Arduino folder so you can flash it into your proffieboard I hope you are able to resolve this issue long ago, but for new viewers I hope this answer helps

Take Kylo Ren's lightsaber for example... It has 3 blades (the main blade and the cross-guards) So for a proffieboard saber that has cross-guards, you would need to paste the same code three times (unless there are three separate codes for it) In my case, my lightsaber has 2 blades (the main blade, and the control box lighting) So I need to paste the same code two times I hope that hamkes sense!

I have a couple single blade sabers that have two blades indicated in the config. No crystal chamber, cross blades, or button box. Is this the wrong config maybe? Should I change that value to 1? I’ve had some peculiar errors after uploading, such as volume controls not working and some weird gesture controls being added. Is there a basic config for two button, one blade sabers, or are they specific to each saber? Thanks so much!

@@Forcetones it depends on where your getting your saber from who is doing the install and stuff like that but I would also say if you don’t have secondary lights or something like that on your chassis then yeah set it to 1 but take that with a grain of salt because im having so much difficulty with proffie that I’m definitely going to do a reinstall on my saber to get the CFX board inside instead of proffie

Bro thats an 89 sabers saber You could get in from alot if different stores on Alieexpress, and I've ordered from there myself and it was legit. The guy that I ordered from even added my soundfints for free. And that's Luke's lightsaber my dude

Yes, they are an 89sabers distributor which follows a similar price on some Aliexpress vendors (excluding customs tax) And yes, you're not wrong when you say that it is Luke's lightsaber, but it's not wrong either to call it Anakin's (since I also reviewed another of Luke's lightsabers on my channel)

Very nice. Not sure if I'd put down 800+ for it, but I've the UW version from 3 years ago, which is very similar, but has a clear glass eye in the bottom instead of the red button, so the blade light shows thru. Also it uses the Asteria heart but not proffie or CFx.

I'm sure you won't have to, just make sure to request the vendor to put the minimum amount, so that your tax wouldn't be too much And yes, with this hilt I was also able to buy a "glass-eye" replacement which fits very well Let me know what your experience is with Asteria though

Thank you for an actual straight forward instruction on this. I attempted to add fonts a year ago, got frustrated and just put the whole thing down. Then I went at it again about a month ago and I have burnt two friggen boards trying to get this stuff to work and I was just about to call it quits again and somehow here comes your video in my feed. I’ll be trying this ASAP and I’ll let chya know how it goes. Thanks again for the concise instructions.

You can’t fry the board using charge only cables. That is false. You must have had a faulty cable or you plugged the cable in using the wall socket instead of your pc.

Why does it seem I understand this more than an hour video lol. Awesome work!! Quick question. I changed a couple fonts on my presets on my SD card. But now when I load the SD card in my saber it gives me an error saying "FONT NOT FOUND. SD CARD NOT FOUND" is this an easy fix or is this because of my proffieboard and SD card slot could be bad. Thank you

Great to hear that man! As for your problem, it might be because the SD Card hasn't been ejected properly, try to connect it back to your computer, if it's corrupted then you have to format and place the backup again (I hope you made a backup lol) Feel free to keep me updated

Yes I think that is what happened. So now.... I thought it was a corrupted SD card and I bought a new one and uploaded the backup file and its doing the same thing. After work I'll reformat it to fat32.( i dont remember if it was when i reformatted it the first time) but as of now it doesn't read my original or my new SD card. Note that the I can turn on the saber and the crystal chamber and all the accent pixels still work. Thanks for getting back with me

Hey brother! Great to see another saber enthusiast here in PH. The saber market in PH is quite small and hilts installed with proffies are rare. I also bought my 2nd saber Cal Kestis from the same shop (DDRT) and I got it on May 4th (what a coincidence, right?). Anyway, 89sabers produce high quality close to the real thing sabers and my store experience is quite similar to yours. Except for the free stand! Had a lot of experience with proffie these past months, so if you have any questions feel free to hit me up. Btw, you can review my saber if you want. I live nearby, Muntinlupa.

Is your stand the same height on both sides? The one I got for this same saber & seller has the left side resting higher than the right.

I've checked mine and the stand itself is pretty good, if it's not the same height there might still be plastic residue at the bottom Of course, when you put the lightsaber itself, it won't be the same height since the grenade section (in my case) is thinner than the one on the control box section

@@saberglove9638 hrmm ok thanks. Yeah the seller is stating it's on purpose, and one side is for the emitter and nother for the grenade . The saber can only go on one way (left facing) and it doesn't rest very well. But all other photos I've seen both sides are the same height. I'm guessing I have one really intended for another hilt since they are clearly two heights when manufactured.
