I'm crosstitching on a prequilted quilt. how can I keep from stitches showing on the quilt backing? i know i can go through the top two layers to do the stitches, but how do I secure the ends of the floss?

Thank you,the way I was doing it was to slide my thread under the top 3 Then down in the middle and back up where I’d start my cross But no matter how hard I pulled I still got a little bump which made the stitch look horrible 😊

How does this work with a three-strand 11 CT project? If I follow these directions, I end up with six strands on my needle.

You can do a loop start from the front of the fabric.

Can I cross stitch large projects with a hoop??

You can. It just requires that you move the hoop around when you get to close to the edge. It's pretty simple I'm not a huge fan of that method myself because it can leave creases from the hoop. But if you need some sort of frame to keep tension and you don't have a scroll frame it's accessible and inexpensive.
@EvoraEzra
@EvoraEzra 3 жыл бұрын
@@C4LV1N1000 I have a scroll.. but not a good one I guess. It wouldn't ever keep the tension and I had to always tighten, I feel like I was damaging the fabric too. I found myself also giving myself blisters because I wanted the fabric so tight... Maybe I'm just stupid.

@@C4LV1N1000 also!! I actually have been using the hoop since this post. For my large project. The hoop marks go away when the fabric is hand washed in the end, don't they? I know sometimes they stay even if you do hand wash. I don't knowwww D; why can't it all be simple huh. Lol

Very similar to what I'm doing - though I usually do multiple rows with the first half of the stitch (about half the lenght of the thread I have on the needle) and then all the way back to the start with the second half. And no knots as this might show on the front as a hump if the piece will be framed.

Hoops are dumb IMO cause you can't stitch like this you have to go in and out and its so much slower. Never thought about rolling the fabric I always just scrunch it up in my hand

WITCHCRAFT! OMG. How can you do this so quickly and neatly. I have been stabbing for 10 years, just discovered sew style cross stitching. You are so efficient! Do you have a video which demonstrates a more jumping style pattern? Your example is all even rows.

Practice makes perfect ;-) You can't really do this with a pattern that has a lot of confetti! A block/rows of the same colour calls of this technique
