The sequel was good, but relied too heavily on cgi.

The Polite and beautiful Chinese people, the humorous storyline, the gentle resolution of the conflicts, all together made this a remarkable film.

I think probably it is the type of camera they are using to film this movie that gives it that signature black-and-white romantic look. I haven't seen any modern films made with this type of camera.
