How did you take time to write this in between slaying the chicks? 😉 All kidding aside it's a great song. Love it

Saw him live years ago, have never gotten over it. Anti flag show, and we all sat there confused, but he made a whole punk rock croud cheer. I love this.

I just found this dude while searching actual gospel chior music. (yeah i like gospel music sometimes, wanna fight about it?) Anywhoo... Holy shit, this dude reminds me so much of Daniel Johnston. And I mean that as a great compliment

This is a beautiful song. And I like metal. Johnny cash bob Dylan, ccr, and black Sabbath are awesome. Fuck disco and dubstep.

40 ounces to freedom is a horrible record And I hate sublime And I hate fleetwood Mac too But I can like you Even though your musical preference is shit And I don't like metal And I don't like country But I love Johnny cash And I love black sabbath too I can learn to like you Unless you listen to g g allin or Mumford and sons Bob Dylan, ccr, and Bruce Springsteen Have all saved my life like the holy trinity And I'm thankful That I never Had to listen to disco or dubstep And I got cassette taps and vinyl records Of the coolest bands that nobody has heard But I would be happy if you let me share them with you And my friends write songs That inspire me More than some shitty Starbucks pick of the week More than some top 40 song, that was made to be forgotten When my body dies And I go to heaven I'll meet joe strummer and Freddie mercury too Then we'll, put on a record for you

when he sang this song when i saw him, i literally cried. every song i bawled through, but it was beautiful. it was so cinematic, to see a whole bunch of punk kids turn to mush at his stage presence. his lyrics really hit home, even if you've never gone through the same thing decepted on the surface of his music.

I want to like this. i really do, but on his bandcamp, he calls himself the "woody guthrie of the post-hope pre-apocalypse world that we live in" and he really just seems like a pretentious shitlord

Derek is one of the nicest people I know. I assure you he's one of the least pretentious people ever.
@ToxicKarmaKilljoy9 жыл бұрын
He's actually really awesome me and my friend have seen him 11 times and always stay after shows and chat with him and hit him up on Facebook. He's actually way down to earth and not pretentious at all. If you want to get to know his mind a little better order a copy of his book existentialism the musical or his new one on pre order remembering everything. Hes just super chill and a realist. He pretty awesome.

+Tess Van Egeren I can see why you would feel that way. I will say that I've gotten to know him and have found him to be a real gem. I think the Woody Guthrie thing was typo. He's the Woody Allen of the post hope pre apocalypse world.
