How long have you owned the scooter and have you noticed a significant amount of battery sag overtime.? Our solar P1 3.0 seems to have a significant amount of battery sag after about six months 200+ miles or so on it.
@adrumwhisperer
@adrumwhisperer Ай бұрын
I've had it about 5-6 months with about 180 miles on it. What specifically are you seeing? When I think of sag, I think of the drop in voltage due to load... which is dependent on things like hill grade, rider weight, speed, etc.. The measurements in my chart are under no load conditions so they won't be effected by these things while I'm taking the measurement. If you mean max charge voltage, I haven't seen any significant change. If you mean miles ridden per charge, I haven't looked at this in detail. I haven't ridden long distances in awhile, but I haven't noticed a significant change in battery duration with shorter trips. If you have any specific conditions or details, I can take a look once the rain goes away. Hope you are still enjoying your ride!

@@adrumwhisperer Great work and detail here. The thing I am noticing is on an average ride 18-20 miles under varied terrain with 175 rider in mode 2, the last half of the battery sags so much that its becoming unusable as it sags into the protection range of the battery.

@@Scooter-King. Thanks, I wanted to have a way to more accurately determine how much farther I can make it on a ride... the bar display is not very useful. Looking at my chart the transfer function becomes non-linear once the battery voltage gets below 49V. I would suggest plotting your xfer function out every mile like i did and find when your curve falls off a cliff as well. These measurements should be done with no-load (at a full stop). Then you can look to see if this "cliff" changes as the battery gets older. Keep in mind that you may be at 49.5V under no load and then see the battery voltage drop when a load is applied (going up a hill for example). If the load is large enough that "sag" will put you into the "Warning" or "Dead" zone and the performance will decrease significantly. the warning zone is good enough to keep me going on a flat road or small inclines.. the dead zone is barely moving at all. The same hill with a battery voltage of 58V may not show any performance degradation. In general, my plot shows there isn't much of a performance hit as long as my battery is above 49V. A 8% hill slope may cause approximately 0.5V drop if I remember correctly. Based on your weight I would expect you to easily get more than 22 miles for a full charge in normal riding conditions. The mode won't make a difference, if you ride at the same speed. (i.e. 10mph in all modes will put the same load conditions on the motors). Of course if you are riding at faster speeds available in higher modes it drains the battery faster.

@adrumwhisperer 4 ай бұрын
I don't hear any ticking noise. Check to see if a brake cable or something is rubbing against the rim. I don't know why you don't hear it when walking next to the P1. Try to narrow it down... does the sound change when you speed up? apply brakes? move your weight more towards the back or front? You can also put your P1 on top of a milk crate so the wheels spin free. Then run just the front motor and then just the back motor and see if you can figure out where it is coming from.

@adrumwhisperer
@adrumwhisperer 4 ай бұрын
This video goes into detail about mileage and how it relates to weight and battery voltage. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXaYiGiMiNaDbZosi=sQ7wBmIH-5Bs96El I suggest checking the battery voltage after full charge, it should be around 59V. Then check the voltage every mile, under no load (ie. not moving). You should get a mostly linear transfer function (voltage vs miles) until you get below 49V, at that point the response falls off a cliff. If you are charging to 59V and the response has a linear slope until 49V... then the other major factors are your weight and the load on the motors (steep hills and full speed will give shorter mileage). I'm around 260lbs and still get about 22 miles of range on a mix of hills (up to 8 degree slopes) and flat areas and an average speed around 20mph. It's common for suppliers to overstate their range, and quoting it under the best conditions (lower speed, light weight rider, flat ride). 13miles is way too short and I would start troubleshooting with tracking the battery voltage.

Since a few people have asked, here is the suspension fix. The original is in the comments section of the P1 3.0 review from ESG. "On this particular unit, the hack I found was that the fork was spread too wide at the bottom and was binding a little. There were two washers on the inside of the right fork (between the fork and the bearings) that spread the forks out too wide and caused it to bind a little. So for me what worked was: unbolt brake caliper using the sideways facing bolts, unbolt front wheel, slide it out of the fork, remove the double washer on the right axle (the side with the brake rotor) put it back on, (now way easier to install). The left side only has one washer to begin with. When you reassemble you need to re-set the brake caliper location, but that’s a good idea any time you take the wheels off. You do that by loosening the other two bolts that hold the brake caliper to the caliper mount, slide everything into place. Then after the wheel is installed and tight, and the brake caliper bracket is bolted to the forks: squeeze the brake lever and the caliper will line itself up. Then tighten the caliper bolts that point down toward the axle and the caliper will end up aligned to the rotor. It helps to tighten a little at a time so it stays aligned while tightening. -Paul"

I'm not sure what you mean by cut outs. I've never had any problems other than what is mentioned in my videos. In Part 2 of this series I discuss error codes, the only time I've gotten an error was due to low battery. In the Range test and Transfer Function video, I discuss how the power of the scooter falls off a cliff when the battery falls below 49V. This could temporarily happen at higher voltages when the motor is under a heavy load, such as during hill climbing or acceleration due to voltage droop. This is normal and again due to the battery getting too low.

I have this scooter and I think it's best and most comfortable to ride it with the seat like an ebike/moped. Once I went back to standing, it was not as good as riding with my VSett 8 where I can have the handlebars higher. Only saying this cause I'm 6 ft tall. The only other thing that can be improved is the front suspension and turning. It definitely zips and can keep up with traffic, which is what I like.

I agree, but for me the standing problem is more because of the short deck. It's much more comfortable sitting (now that I fixed the seat) than standing with my leg on the back fender. It is also my first real attempt at drum modeling, trying to capture the original snare sound.
