The XWB sound great for a modern engine. When flying the 787, the Trent 1000 don't sound as nice as the GEnx engines. I'm still a huge GE90 fan though

i would say this competition is unfair, just because one thing, the trent xwb video shown was actually a "full power" takeoff where the engine setting is at 100%, while the ge90 wasnt "full power", the ge90 in this video is running on around 90% engine power whilst it can go up to 107%

the XWB was doing TO/GA i think, if I am not wrong? Anyways, both of these engines are such an invention.

I thought they were quite decent the one time I used them. I was supposed to be on an ANA 767 from Kagoshima to Haneda, but there were some pretty serious weather delays. ANA moved me up to an earlier 787-operated flight, but it too was seriously delayed and I would have missed my connection. I was suddenly directed to the nearby Solaseed Air flight that was about to leave. I wasn't too thrilled at first, but they ended up being great. I ended up in the window seat in the second exit row, and of course that had tons of room. The inflight service was basically identical to ANA. I did make my connection and miraculously, my bags did make it despite this too!

Wow…tough call. They both have their own distinctive sounds, and they work very well on their respective airframes, but I have to say I prefer the sound of the RR.🤷‍♂️😄

Great video. I think the service of this airline was pretty decent. The crew was lovely to give you a hand-written note. Was that because of you filming?

the RR-XWB has a unique turbo sound like almost a formula 1 sound in full thrust and growl of an angry lion especially the trent-xwb-84 engine.. such a fun to listen to in an aviations fan point of view..

The Trent XWB Sounds like a full Man TOGA Thrust due to the weather comparing good weather, in that case you have almost always a reduced trust the Man FLEX TOGA. And in the air the Thrust Leverages are set in de Climb detend and roll back at 1000ft-1500ft.

The only word true in your statement is `power`, the XWB`s reliability is second to none & is the worlds most efficient turbine built to date. GE9X promises even better efficiency when it`s finally introduced.
@Stvescr
@Stvescr Жыл бұрын
That's still incorrect. After ultrafan upgrades unveiled at the paris air show to the -97 variant the efficiency will remain with the a350-1000 (of which over distance would've still beaten the 777x). 777x is big, with large engines, but it isn't efficient because it is as heavy as an elephant with a poor range.
@edwardwilcox6606
@edwardwilcox6606 Жыл бұрын
@@Stvescr I hear what you say but I did say 'promises' as you'd expect later tech to improve over what went before, but it remains to be seen when it's introduced. I'll admit it will have to be good because T-XWB is a special engine & RR could be on the cusp of something very special with an UltraFan upgrade on it.
@Stvescr
@Stvescr Жыл бұрын
@@edwardwilcox6606 It's going to be a good rivalry. I love the flat edged look to the composite blades on the GEnx engines and they win hands down in the looks dept.
