Tow things I never do. First is I NEVER use a mortise because it is too easy to split the wood. Second, I NEVER have the tailstock in the way which can CAUSE a catch.......

I cant believe you didn't use a coreing device to core that beautiful bowl, you could hav had many bowls instead of throwing them out as dust. Here in Alaska we would love to have access to such beautiful wood. it sure would not be wasted like that.

A question to all the woodturners ..... If the piece was central to the faceplate after turning ... why is it off center when mounted in the chuck?

Just my opinion but turning with a glove on is asking for trouble! Nice work anyway and great piece of wood!

Why not use a bowl gouge like a 5/8" or 3/4" wouldn't it cut faster and easier ?

hey next time cut the corners of with a band saw or if need be a table saw it will save a lot of time and a little safer
