Amazing! ❤ I began learning pottery a couple months ago, but I'm yet to make a pot with this simple method. Do you use red or white clay? I guess you take the pot to the kiln as a final step (?)
@marlenemillevolte343022 күн бұрын
Yes, I use a white stoneware clay and fire it in the kiln. Enjoy the process. It can be so fun.

Lol are you serious that is not what you do. You can torch on the wheel and use a rib to straighten it out. Once that’s done use a needle tool and cut slight below and it’s a perfect pot again.

Yes, you are also correct, I just wanted to show this fun whimsical way to finish a pot.

Excellent instruction... I especially liked how you showed us the mistakes and waffles and how you came back from that that is the truth of pottery which I feel like so many videos don't show.....this was so helpful! I always have my wheel going too fast, and this is a great reminder to slow down breathe and be with the clay! And your plate came out so beautifully looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks again for sharing your wisdom and knowledge.
That is such a beautiful angel. Thank you for sharing how to make her.

How do you get it to dry evenly without warping if the middle bowl is not the same height as the plate sides? I really want to try this and love your video. Just nervous about the drying process.
@lakecountryfinearts893010 ай бұрын
If you use a stoneware clay with grog, the chance of warping is reduced. I made over 100 and had no warping. I dried it out slowly. I only sponged the bottom smooth instead of trimming it on the wheel. I hope this helps.
@lakecountryfinearts89306 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late response. I wire them right away and then a couple times through the drying process. I dry them very slowly to prevent warping and then sponge the bottom smooth when they are leather hard. There are other methods of trimming them when they are leather hard propped upside down on a chuck. It is much more time consuming but offers a more professional end result.
