There are trail leading all over the place there. There is a trail that are used for fishing just short distance from the platform. This trail is used to walk across the river. I guess because he is at the falls makes it a big deal. Not saying he isn't an idiot but you can literally walk anywhere and have bears walking with you.

Fished this river many times. The rules were very clear, stay away, back out if you are approached and snap off a fish if a bear comes along. Any violation and you were done!
