What a wonderful interview! Lucy, you are a wonderful interviewer and incredible listener. Donna, your stories that go back to the beginnings of polymer clay are so insightful and human. You are both so honest. That You, Lucy, took your first class at age 11, from Donna and are now a leader in the polymer community, brings it all together in it's fullness. Thank you both for this video.

Thank you I’m so glad I stumbled on this. It’s so lovely to put a face to the voice I have been listening to watching Donna’s amazing videos. I love her style and Donna is so easy to watch. Interesting to learn the history of the craft. I remember being a little girl watching my mum use Fimo in the 80’s. I remember it being sooooo hard that it was not like my play dough! She shared some great advice. Let it go and don’t compare. Thanks for sharing.

Wouldn't the pigment burn off in the kiln. From my understanding gold pigments are very fragile.

Hello! Polymer clay has 110 - 150 baking temperature based on the brand you work with. These pigments are stable until 150 celsius :).

Hi Lucy, i like you stamps ❤ What do you do to the clay before you press the stamp on it?
@LucyStruncova
@LucyStruncova 11 ай бұрын
Hello, I add a bit of Armor-all or cornstarch to make sure the clay will not get inside the stamp, it's easier to remove it when using one of those :)

I’ve purchased several of your gorgeous stamps and despite practice (and using the deeper stamp of the set), cannot get results like this. It would be really helpful to know how thick each of your layers is. 😊
@LucyStruncova
@LucyStruncova Жыл бұрын
Hello Jane! You can see during my process I was using different brands of clay. All clays have different densities and can be different softness depending on their age. You can see that I made some thick and thin layers and then roll them to a thinner layer of about five or six on an Atlas, I backed my thin sheet on a thick sheet of the white base before stamping, it’s just one of those things depending on your clay, brand or firmness or softness, and how hard you press will give you different results, as with all things practice helps. I hope this helps you achieve your goal. And out of my long, thin sheet, each square was backed with white and resulted in one Mokume square after shaving. The three result you see here could’ve been from either side of the thin sheet flipped onto the white. And I may have had more than three sections to work with or leftovers.

This has been wonderful. I have been a Donna fan for as long as I can remember. I’m pretty sure I met her at a class in a bead store (The Beadhive) in Geneva Illinois. That started my polymer clay adventure. I have her book “The Art Of Polymer Clay” published in 1997, I have Kemper tools and I LOVE Kato Polyclay! I always look forward to a new video on KZbin by her. Thank you for this interview. ❤
