I love this car (yet I have to admit I don’t know Toyota engine codes). After reading the comments below, here some of my own research: - Of course this is a Toyota Supra, MA70. It was used for African and marathon events in early groupA as the Celica was not ready yet and as past rallies have proven that RWD is good enough for this kind of events. BTW the previous Supra MA61 as a 2.8 straight-6 was used in groupA in British rallies before and was very successful, so the Supra MA70 seemed to be a great choice for certain events. BTW the Supra MA61 was on some markets called the Celica XX as the Celica was the A60 model, but with the next generation these models were clearly set apart with the next Supra being the A70 and Celica T160… Hence in the video here it is clearly NOT a Celica. - Engine: The MA70 debuted with a 3.0 6-cylinder normally aspirated in Safari Rally Easter 1987 as the turbo was not ready yet. The turbo debuted later in the year on the Bandama Rallye 87. However on this event Toyota had a nightmare when their management plane crashed, killing Henri Liddon and Nigel Harris. After that Toyota never started on the Bandama again. The Supra turbo still competed in the Safari 88 and Safari 89 before it was replaced by the Celica on these events too.
