So this is recorded off a TV playing it. And it must be longer. Has the person who posted this explained where he got this?

Don, I have one of these kits my grandfather originally purchased. It wasn't until recently that I came across this video. I didn't know how special it was. My grandfather played in a Dixieland band in the 40's through the mid 80's. I am missing the large tom drum, as it must be somewhere in the family belongings. He also played the Trumpet.

Not the fastest, but I enjoyed the lil' ostinato business at the beginning of the vid. It was tight.. Shoulda' continued riding that wave, it was sounding good.😁 There was "a theme".

I know Steve Maxwell had Elvin’s 70’s yellow lacquer stop sign Gretsch which I think Charlie Watts bought but what happened to all his other Gretsch kits??? The first time I saw Elvin in 1971 he was playing his Gretsch stop sign badge kit 18,12,14, in Jade Green satin flame.

1:00 oh wow, never saw this close up before, but my drum kit has the same 'limited edition' emblem on it. It's the Chad Smith Signature Set from 2009.

Don, I have one from this era and it’s awesome. Put two or three rivets in it and it’ll blow your mind! It’s been to the right of my main ride for almost 15 years now. Perfect sizzle/crash/ride/whatever cymbal.

Saw him playing this kit at Winterland in SF, with Montrose opening for Mott the Hoople and Joe Walsh (Sept. 1973). I'm pretty sure it was the flame kit. The next year I saw Montrose open for The Guess Who and Elvin Bishop in Sacramento, and I could swear he was using a dark blue or "smoke" Vistalite kit. After Sammy leaves I see them again a few times, and I believe this kit is back. Am I mixing anything up here?

I like the snare but I have to ask, is there a brand of kit that Carmine hasn't endorsed? I know im being hyperbolic but, to my memory, that guy has played Ludwig, Pearl, Slingerland, and Mapex, and i might be forgetting one or two. I mean, he's not as bad as Carl Palmer, but man, he's played a lot of different brands. And yes, Carmine is a legend, Neil played four brands of acoustics and at least two brands of electronics, and I'm jealous.

That's what happens when you're famous, manufacturers come to you and say "here's free stuff, sign here, the labels have to be seen, you have to use this kit from x date to x date, here's some cymbals, here's some sticks" it has nothing to do with the quality of the kits, it's SALES, Buddy Rich took a free kit from fibes, loved the snare so much he kept using it, other brands that gave him free kits saw that and go ticked telling him you're under contract to use our entire kit, he said make a snare as good as this and I will, and he was one of the few drummers that could do that.
@spasevrp2 ай бұрын
@@905Alive He's decent at drumming and great at teaching and selling. And he did get endorsements for several drummers including John Bonham for Ludwig and Paiste!
