It was warm as hell this opener as you can see he has his coat, assuming he wore it, he sweats, takes it off to sit and wears it while walking .... He also said in the beginning of the video " His Land" I'm assuming he is on private property. If you can't see the amount of orange he has on you shouldn't be hunting.
@MNomad_Outdoors9 күн бұрын
I did indeed take my coat off after shooting as Matt pointed out. I was sweating bullets and the guys on our private land knew where I was and that I had shot. I wouldn’t take off orange on public. Not a chance. You are correct on the rule. It’s a good rule. But getting so hot that I get dizzy is also not ideal.

Truly one of the tried and true best rifles money can buy. I have the featherweight and wouldn’t trade it for anything. The vortex scope with the 50mm arperture is a huge bonus. Let’s a lot more light in so you can see much more clearly through the scope in low light conditions

It did! But it’s not a real club. One of our hunter’s wife made the hats for us like 7-8 years back. Fun group of guys.

Great video, MNomad Outdoors. Looking forward to seeing your next upload from you. I smashed that thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the awesome work! Your approach to hunting in challenging terrains is fascinating. How do you adapt your strategy based on changing weather conditions while out in the field?

I’m glad you’re liking the content! As to your question I just try to be as prepared as possible. Sometimes I have multiple spots picked out where if situations come up or weather arises I’ll have a plan b.

What chokes are you guys using on double barrels?

We tend to flush birds close so my first barrel I use just cylinder and my second I use improved cylinder (5 & 4 if you count notches)

I've been up there plenty. Tend to get all over just where i go each day is kind of dependent on how much time I have. Usually coming all the way up from the cities. Round trip to central is easier than Lake County.

I’ve done “here” for a while. I feel he gets very zoned in and antsy when out in the woods. Clearly a result of my self training with him. He’s not as good as he could be. That being said this was only his 3rd season. He’s much calmer nowadays and I’m finding ways of getting his focus to be better.

Bwca entry points online map. You can go in and click on the dots on the map. It’ll show campsite number comments, photos, etc. a very useful tool in planning a route

It wasn’t actually on the BWCA entry points interactive map. But if you look on a map at the south end of lake three there is a 5 star campsite on an island. This campsite was on a smaller island just west of that nice campsite.

@@MNomad_Outdoors Yeah, we got hit about 600 yards from camp with winds shifting from SE to N when it hit. We got lucky as the wind shift helped us make camp. But 5" of rain and 50mph winds was rough going. Brandy/water helped

Nice video. Did you catch any fish?
@MNomad_Outdoors5 ай бұрын
We didn’t catch many actually. There was a good portion of the time where it was just too windy to get the canoe out. We fished for a half hour or so each evening but never got on them. Some of the guys i go with are more into the camping scene rather than fishing so our trip isn’t as fishing-focused as most groups are.

Few things: 1) Super cool trail cam footage, especially that group of jakes just gobbling in unison. 2) I appreciate a father taking/lugging their kid around while outdoors. My daughter is almost 2yo and I haul her around on my winter/spring beaver trapline and when we go catfishing on the river bank. We gotta start these kids out on the right path from the get go, so kudos to you! 3) Unfortunate about that literal road hunter and them spooking off that Tom and then running in his flip flops of all things back to his car. Some people just don't think at all about shooting from a highway like that and bushwhacking a bird.
