how the return stroke can be slower (@ 38 sec) ? And if it is so then why we call it the quick return mechanism in the first case? I think correction is necessary.

This is crank and slotted liver mechanism its not a whitworth mechanism

there is an error @ 0:44. Since A is bigger, therefore the forward stroke is slower than the return stroke not the other way round.

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that it doesn't matter that much, because this is not a true involute. Rather, it is an approximation of an involute using circular arc.

+adrian ionut I believe that clutches grip different shafts depending on speed and load. However, I don't know what causes the clutches to activate.
