How resilient are these resin minis? I only know of 3D printed resin and it is rather fragile, sadly.
@Themediocremodelershow
@Themediocremodelershow Ай бұрын
@@shocknawe that’s a very good question! Black Site Studios spin casts their resin models using a traditional 2-part resin. They aren’t as durable as plastic but they’ve got a bit of give to them. Much more so than a lot of UV cured resins. You may have to search a bit but on the BSS KZbin channel they have some videos on how they produce their cast resin minis.

@@OwDoGaming-kx9jo truthfully there wasn’t a lot to the painting process. It was all done with contrast paints and then layered highlights. The cloaks were done by blending wet contrast colors with a little water.

Looks great! Back in the early 80's I built a few drag racing car models that I (and others) considered to be top shelf. I did not enter them in any competitions because I was a kid back then. I stopped building models due to life, but I'm starting to get the fever back. I'm drawn to military models now because of the weathering effect. Man it makes a difference in realism, right? I'm not sure at this point if I can get to the same level with military kits as I did with cars because the cost has risen so much sense then. I recently did a cost analysis it came up to over 500 bucks to get the tools I consider necessary to get results I want. it was a little off putting to say the least. So my plan is to go back to car models to refresh my memory and skills, afterwards I'll merge into doing military models (hopefully). Anyway, I digress, NIce model, Thx for some inspiration!

@@philc.352 I tried my hand at cars but I felt it was more difficult haha! With military modeling you can use weathering to hide the imperfections.

Le char de la victoire ! The FT was more than a revolutionary design, as it introduced what remains for the most part the basic structure of the tank (rotating turret, crew in the front, engine in the back). It's brilliance is that it fit in with an industrial strategy. The French along with the Americans had the world's most developed automobile industry. It was way easier for the French to turn the automobile industry into light tank production than into heavy tanks like the British were doing (the Schneider and Saint-Chamond were far less successful). The synergy between design and industrial organization is what made it possible for the French Army to put over 3000 of these in the field, by far the most produced tank of the war. The Entente strategy for a potential 1919 offensive was based on the FT as their light tank and the British designs as their heavy tanks, streamlining tank production amongst their economies. The lesson of the FT is that often it's better for weapons design to fit into what your industry can effectively produce rather than the other way around. Great show as always!
