Asphalt/Tar driveways are pretty uncommon here, so what does the seal coat actually do other than fill imperfections and make the driveway look darker?

@@lithgowlights859 Asphalt without sealer gets really dried out and deteriorates really fast. Getting a sealcoat every two to three years helps prevent that, adding additional years to the life of the parking lot or driveway. The curb appeal is just an added bonus :).
