Not wearing steel-toe shoes while doing underhand chop is a bit reckless.
@WVAxemanАй бұрын
Wearing chainmail footies and leggings under my pants and shoes. Steel toe shoes are cumbersome and don’t protect the areas that are injured while chopping underhands - instep and arch of the foot.

@WVAxeman2 ай бұрын
I am wearing chain mail leggings and foot guards. Steel toe boots are very cumbersome and large. The chainmail is much more efficient
@ZsaZsaUmbra2 ай бұрын
Steel toes also don't protect the side of your foot which is the most likely area to be cut doing this

What wood are your chopping and sawing on looks like black cherry
@WVAxeman3 ай бұрын
Ed, the wood I am chopping is round leaf stringy bark and blue gum. Gerald Youles is cutting white gum. The stringy is like cutting straight grain locust. The blue gum is comparable to the elm we have in Appalachia. The white gum is simply white oak in my opinion - soft but you have to use a very narrow scarf because the chips hang in the way as it’s cross grained

Could you explain what JP was talking about with your technique vs his technique on the push pull?
@WVAxeman4 ай бұрын
JP wants me to finish the stroke with the handle right up against the log. And then pull the initial part of the near wood with the belly of the saw on my pull stroke but simply extending my left knee and pulling the entire saw with my body instead of my arms. I hope that makes sense?
@pubgmobileunknownplayer56604 ай бұрын
Is the bounce the slight bend with your knees and why not use it?
@WVAxeman4 ай бұрын
I liken “the bounce” to pulling my torso into the log with the slight Bend of the knees. It’s a timing element to the swing.

That is awesome! I cut wood everyday in the fall and winter. I split all my firewood by hand 18 inches and smaller for my stove. I appreciate the hard work and to be in decent shape to do competition. You use muscles that most people don't know they have. I used to watch those type competitions on TV in the 70's. Log rolling and the events you are doing. Keep up the traditions and areas of life you enjoy. God Bless

As surgical as your chopping is you should have been a surgeon instead of an attorney. What kind of law do you practice?

Trial attorney. Specializing in civil defense. Actually the resident medical expert in my office. I enjoy learning about the processes associated with surgery and orthopedics.
