Does anyone want to comment on how this song might be about Barrabus..death sentance reprieved by Jesus..now trying to deal with his immortality?

I was there too. I can hear myself yell "Warren!" In the recording. After the show he was handing out little buttons that said My Shits Fucked Up. He gave one to my girl and we were standing right there with the man. Genius guy and really down to earth and we had a great night! Gone too soon rip.

Back in '97 at the T.L.A. he introduced this song with "I was sure this song was going to be a hit". Show me a more rock and roll artist.

He was not just a song writer....he was a story teller and balladeer...which is hard to find today.

God Smiles On Warren Zevon because God and Warren both call out hypocritical behavior.

A hymn for the desolate and the desperate. Every bit as spiritual as Ecclessiastes.

Thank you! I went to a solo show in the early 80s (in Denver, not quite dead) and have been trying to remember what he played, what it sounded like, etc. much appreciated!

Enormeous version of his solo 12 string guitar trouvadour period of this fabulous classic. Pure genious, only a few a couple of years before his fatal diagnosis.

I like this version ..I've heard many live version of this song and there all different, great and unique .but wow!! The looper pedal way back in 1986 ! Very ingenious! he uses it at the end of the song. I wonder how he first came across the looper pedal. which he ended up using all the time at his solo shows
