I love this tutorial and found it very helpful. I am a budding Drag King. I had a dream about it and found my Drag King name via dream. 🎉❤

Found this video casually, just looking for some tips for drag king contouring, but I must say that I’m absolutely in love with you. I’ve found the tips, and that’s wonderful, but I’m amazed by your “mentally approach”, I don’t know how to say that 😂. The fact that at the beginning you say that you use “masculine” and “feminine” just for social conventions, and the way you put it in clear, I think it’s absolutely wonderful. I’m from Italy and I assure you that’s not so obvious like you put. So sorry for my English and thank you so much for the tips and, particularly, for speaking like this and share your thoughts ❤❤❤

This is THE BEST tutorial on stage-appropriate masculine makeup that's not over-the-top flamboyant or cartoon-y. Adam All surely has a huge extended brotherhood across the globe who share a family resemblance. A thousand thanks, Jen!

I would just recommend lowering the volume (and intrusiveness) of the music for next time, I could hardly understand a word you were saying :( do you know why they were called "mashers"? I actually found this video because I'm trying to do research about Victorian England stuff surrounding the whole "hatpin panic". I didn't realize it intersected with Queer history, which is both delightful and suspicious because all the other things I saw referencing "mashers" were just saying they were random dangerous people running around in the street harassing people.....so now I have to figure out if they were claiming the crossdressers and other queer people were going around attacking people, or if the Queer people were conflated with the people attacking people like bigots do today.................. and all of this is research so I can make a summary of Edwin Abbot Abbot's book Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions, for people who are too lazy to read the book or its 2024 translation.

But WHY is it associated with "Homosexuality"? Homosexuality is being sexually attracted to the SAME sex, and not wanting to be or have sex with the OPPISITE sex. That would be Transsexuality or Heterosexuality, respectively. Cross-Dressing is generally a heterosexual activity, the subject finding opposite sex clothing a kind of sexual fetish. Yes, many drag kings and queens ARE indeed gay , but what are we dealing with here? Is it just a clever ploy to attract and perhaps fool same sex sexual partners? I doubt that would work very well, and, besides if they wanted gay sex dressing like the opposite sex would be "fishing with the wrong bait". Somewhat of a mystery here, or did mass sexual confusion reign in years back where Homosexuality, Transsexuality and simple cross-dressing were ALL thrown into the same "Basket", so to speak, as being variations of the same thing? Even today many people are STILL confused and think gays are "men who think they are women", etc.

I would like to add one caveat to the "no rules in makeup" make sure that product ingredients are eye safe if used around eyes. You would think that anything meant to go on your face would be ok around the eyes, but that isn't always true. There are many products that people use in ways they aren't meant to be and that is fine if you read the ingredients. Certain things that are not sold as eye products are still used by many people all over, and most never have issues, but I found because I got into face painting that certain pigments are not supposed to be used around the eyes, while you can certainly risk it, if you have any sensitivities, please be careful with your eyes, they are so important, stained skin comes off eventually, even break outs are annoying but will usually heal, but eye inflammation and damage can really be a long term problem even just once. So please be careful.

*were assigned at birth, not "are assigned at birth". otherwise a great video! masculinity is def just as important as femininity is, and many times stories like these are brushed under the rug because masculinity is labeled as the "default". keep spreading awareness, king!
