Watch the video of Terry playing this song on Shindig in 1966. It’s great.

This brings back memories of seeing Terry and the band playing on the Sunset Strip one night back in the day. That was a party … 🎉

He was my art professor in the late 70s, early 80s. Very cool guy. We’d all drive down to LA to watch him perform his albums. I still like listening to his music.

Back in the mists of time when this album was first released, I heard ‘Cocaine Cowboy’ and ‘Maybellene’ on a BBC Radio broadcast hosted by blues legend, Alexis Korner R.I.P.. Within a week local Belfast hero Kenny McDowell (he took over singing duties with ‘Them’ after Van Morrison went solo) and his sidekick guitarist Jim Armstrong had introduced Cocaine Cowboy to their set list and played it every week for years. I’ve owned a copy of ‘Smokin’ The Dummy’ ever since and even occasionally buy second hand copies to give to friends. Ah, good musical times!
