@@okayestclimber Called a "Deep V", once cut, the pick will stay in place until YOU are ready. (saw put away/positioning). Always cut the lean side first, so when you make the second cut you won't pinch your bar. Then simply radio your operator. The FIRST command will be "UP", and then every other command is what you're used to. Have him "pick -up" slightly, you'll THEN know which way the section wants to go, BUT, the section will STAY in place. If balanced right, the pick will simply float UP. ~Best

You always play hell when you're guiding a groundsman from the clouds. It's a good idea to use "two- ways" when you don't have a "lead" to catch foreseeable drama on the ground. Kind of like your birthday when you finally have the right groundies in place, heh? Have them take an extra wrap until they get it right, that'll fix the problem QUICK. Got to be fast to make good money, you were BOMBING those picks! Well done, Sir.

I would have been leery with that base rot. Bet you were happy getting the weight of that top out... Second, 2 acres of plywood would make ANY crew pissed, lol. ~Best
@okayestclimber2 ай бұрын
Yeah I wasn’t too worried because I realized there was a third trunk there at some point in the past that had broken off and that’s why the rot was there. And also I checked the rest of the trunk and the other 90% was solid! And yes the plywood is bad right now. At the end of winter it’s soaked and muddy and the 3/4” feels like it’s 80 pounds! Lol

@desireegoulett692 ай бұрын
@@okayestclimber Really? You must be too far north because there's a variety in the Willamette valley that grows like vines up trees that sometimes gets vine stocks up to 2-3" thick that bush all the way along the trunk way up into the trees like that Ivy was. I grew up in the Santa Cruz mountains, and just like the Redwoods and Emerald Triangle the poison oak vines in some of the trees are huge and get vines 3-4" thick that look like trees on the tree. I've got poison oak before from splitting firewood a year after the dam rounds were bucked up because the tree had had poison oak vines and the rounds had been under cover and remained dry. I will say that it looks really cook in the fall and trees that normally wouldn't look very colorful are lit up with colors from yellow to red.

I'm recently retired but I used to when I would be that high, use a super sharp TRi-edged Fiskars 18" Hand saw 🪚Orange handled. Positioning and mobility are much faster. The cutting time u save with chainsaw is MARGiNAL, and u have a free hand without chainsaw. Then there is the minor issue of safety. Ever been up that high?,and THE CHAiN falls off. Up to a foot wide unless it's super hard wood, u r better off with the Fiskars🪚
