I don’t like to tie the ends or backstitch on certain fabrics. Instead, I I sew off the end of the dart, lift the presser foot and carefully turn the dart so it’s facing the other way, then sew a few stitches inside the dart leg. It eliminates bulk on soft, thin fabrics.

Thanks for this awesome video. My bust dart is 4” wide, is taking all off at bottom ok or should I spread it out somewhere at other spots?
@DreamsSewStudio9 күн бұрын
To more evenly distribute the 4” bust dart, I would recommend first pivoting part of it into a waist dart. Then you can remove the smaller bust dart from the bottom and the waist dart from the side. Thanks for watching!

Great ideas, I would include scraps included in paintings, I did one of a scottie that turned out amazing. Also, a book pouch to protect a whole book. I just made one from a thrifted crocheted vest that I had and it tuned out so cute. Maybe even a badge holder necklace.

I love them all. I would love to try the apron, but I don't have a pattern. PS new to sewing, I promise myself that I would learn how to sew.😂😂😂😂
@DreamsSewStudio11 күн бұрын
I’m so happy to hear that you love the ideas! What an exciting journey you have in front of you to learn to sew! Fortunately, you can make your own pattern for a waist apron as it’s only two rectangles. Cut a rectangle for the apron body based on your desired width and length, then cut one long strip for the waist tie. If needed, sew small scraps of fabric together to create the larger pieces for the apron body or waist tie. Hem the edges of the rectangle, fold the waist tie in half lengthwise, enclosing the raw edges inside, and sew it across the top edge of the rectangle, and extend the ends to create ties. I hope you make one!

You are already on your sewing journey path by watching KZbin videos. In addition to Lisa, there are many others on YT with tutorials. Here is one (this is not my channel but she is a good teacher. Her channel is Made Everyday) for an apron and you can get a free pattern: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6qof6qqg9WWZ9Usi=MybdKUGIWFhscNGQ
@number1angel6610 күн бұрын
KZbin videos by knowledgeable people are amazingly helpful! Start with small projects, like coasters, placemats, etc., to gain confidence! It's easy but like anything worth learning takes practice. The most important things are a) have fun b) don't death yourself up over mistakes c) have patience d) use scrap fabrics or buy remnants! As your skills improve you can make table runners, pillowcases, tree skirts, bag holders, pot holders, etc.! You've got this!

Please give more information on the arm dart, how to make it.
@DreamsSewStudio16 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment! I think you’re referring to the elbow dart in my sleeve sloper from the holiday dress video? There isn’t an arm dart mentioned in this understitching video. I modified my regular sleeve sloper to include an elbow dart, which is great for improving the fit and shaping of the sleeve, especially around the bend of the arm. That’s a fantastic idea for a future video-I’d love to show how I created it and explain its benefits in more detail. Stay tuned!

Thank you for your comment. I’m really working on choosing the right fabric for the right project. It’s really hard as there is too much variety but at the same time a small amount that would really work with the given project.

Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 Congratulations on your new sewing journey - how exciting! 🎉 Learning to sew and make your own patterns is such a rewarding experience. To get started with patternmaking, I recommend beginning with simple projects and learning the basics of how patterns work. You can explore online tutorials (like the ones on my channel!) to get a good foundation. There are also great books like Patternmaking for Fashion Design by Helen Joseph-Armstrong if you prefer a deeper dive. Don’t worry if it feels tricky at first - it gets easier with practice! If you have specific questions, feel free to ask here. I’m cheering you on from afar. Hugs from New York! 💖
