Could anyone explain, please. Are they selecting people to the national team up to 5 people of each sex overall or they selecting 5 more people to those, who were already preselected?

I was wrong earlier, it’s 5 additional to the preselected

The flashing light effects while Annie Sanders was in the middle of the last moves to top boulder 4 were outrageously distracting. These "effects" have no place in a national climbing comp. Keep them for the after party.

Wow, try harder. I don't think the women in the back saw your virtue signal. Next time try mentioning that you still believe in the widely debunked gender pay gap myth! You'll definitely be thanked for your white knighting then for sure!

Those light changes right before Annie topped Boulder 4 were terrible! Imagine if she fell there due to having her holds become dark and random patterns moving. Disappointed the announcers didn’t comment on that being an issue

Can someone fill me in on how this event fits with other events on the circuit and other options to qualify for the team?
@vivianhodges900
@vivianhodges900 Жыл бұрын
This is the new Olympic combined format, with only boulder and lead. Speed is now a separate event for the Olympics. The IFSC tested this format at the Asian and European champs last year, as well as a standalone world cup; it will also be utilized at the world championships and continental cups later this year for 2024 Olympic qualification. Individual lead and boulder world cups will still happen as normal since this format is independent of those. Their spot on the US team for world cups is determined by their results for this event and the national championships combined. Only other way to get onto the team is to be pre-selected, which you earn from the previous IFSC world cup season by placing in the overall top 10 for each discipline (i.e. your combined score for all of your results over the season). Natalia Grossman and Brooke Raboutou both got pre-selected for the upcoming season and didn't need to compete in this event. The US gets a quota of 5 athletes per gender, but any athletes that are pre-selected adds to the total, so they will have 7 women and 6 men (Colin Duffy was also pre-selected).
