I used to run one of these & a 60" Mattison & then we got into some REFORM & GOKEL Grinders. You could set this BLANCHARD on the magnetic bed of our REFORM which had two 250 hp motors

Ran same thing for a few months now. Tried explaining to my woman and this video helped because we have 2 30s and a 60. Traverse over extended and wanted to show my woman that the parts are.... bad sensor setup where it's just a rod that hits a switch to stop traverse but a decent machine I can get the smalls to 2thou and the big boy in tolerances of 4thou.

It's the pattern of swirl marks in the finish produced on the part. The leading side of the grinding head makes a curve going in one direction and the trailing side of the head makes a mirror image of those curves, so it's a cross-hatch pattern when the geometry between head and chuck is correct.

Ran same one for a few years. In that time I also spent many shifts on the 84", 96" and 120". But the 60" was my usuall grind.

I ran a similar grinder for many years and devised a way to hold size within .0005 constantly it was tool I designed but after I retired lost it.
