Great review, guys. I just drank one of these, and I agree 100%. Weak, watered-down, and not something I would buy again. I usually love stouts, but this one tastes like carbonated water mixed with liquid smoke. But the price was right! 😂😂

Yea I kinda relate that funk they are talking about specially from blue can to the same funk as Heineken or Beck’s. But Heineken kinda has a tiny bit better aftertaste. But I actually have gotten to like the blue fosters and it’s only 2.50 around me. I’m a Heineken guy and fosters is cheap so when I drink beer and wanna save a bit of money I’ll just get a couple Oil Cans for $5. I haven’t tried the Green one yet. I usually like Ale cause of the sweeter taste so I gotta try it. Maybe I’ll end up liking it more then the Lager 🍺

Will always have a massive head if you pour it like that. Also don't drink wießbier if you leave the "sediment" the yeast is best part. I know you guys not stupid, but some viewers may need to be shown how to get the best out of bier (Thanks guys, I'm mostly just being European)

For the record, I just felt like chiming in -the first bottle out of the six pack I thought tasted OK and I kind of liked it, but BUT…not the best dark beer but for the money just OK. The second beer out of the same six pack I couldn’t wait to be done with a bit because it was really bad so was the third fourth fifth and sixth bottle. this video shows quite a nice little head when poured but the ones I had I poured out into a glass and there was no head whatsoever so I think I just got a bad six pack and once bitten twice shy I will not be buying another six pack of Maguires dark stout from Aldi. I agree that it tasted a little water down like the fellows in the video said.

When we wisconsinites drink beer, we dont think about the ABV, lol. Damn I'm glad to be a wisconsinite. This is my favorite besides spotted cow. I remember b4 covid shut everything down it was being sold just across the border from Lacrosse, WI, to La Cresent MN, and the ones who were selling it got a big fine, because I guess it's illegal to sell it outside of WI.

Beer. I’m no aficionado or expert taster. But I’ve noticed some interesting beer tendencies. Tendencies on the part of brewers, I think. For example, some beers taste like the artificially colored and flavored soda pop we all like from time to time. But, shouldn’t they taste “brewed,” if you follow me? I think Becks, Michelob, Guiness, Sam Adams, have beers that taste as though the ingredients (hops, barley, malt, oats) are real. But a lot of beers are so bland as to have little in them other than sugar, plain or burnt and the requisite amount of alcohol.

@TALKINGHEADSTONES-ip5hn that does not surprise me. i fell like it it is probaly much more popular in the US. Also there green is worth tring if you get the chance. I used to work for Outback when they made a huge push for beer from Australia, got to try a nice range of good stuff, wish I coyuld still get it. Cheers

I was born and raised in a southwest suburb of Chicago, Burbank . It was the go to beer in the area . Moved to the Phoenix area in 1993, just found Old Style at Total Wine two months ago . I couldn't tell a difference in the latest product after not having it for 31 years . There have been comments that it's not the same as it was decades ago . I'm just happy that I can get it again !!!

You should tour the brewery. The tour is average, but afterwards you get fed massive pretzels and they hand out a .5 l bottle of Hefeweizen, Vitius, alkoholfrei Weißbier, and Helles. Given that most people aren’t huge beer drinkers, it’s pretty easy to basically end up with a full bottle of each and only like 20 mins to drink it before they have to kick everyone out for the best tour. They also give out a mini Weihenstephaner glass. I find this helles to be their weaker beer, followed by the Kristallweizen. The “original” helles and pils are my favorites. The brewery does have tons of walking since it’s on a hill like most old breweries in Europe. I went back in June while I was interning at a small brewery in central Germany. Pilsner Urquell was the coolest I visited while there in a flashy touristy way, fresh Wernesgrüner pils at their Biergarten might have been the most enjoyable beer though.

Had this on two different trips to Charleston. Wasn’t a fan. Edmund’s Oast and Munkle were two breweries I had better Pilsner from while there. Charleston has a fair number of breweries for its size, but overall they seem super mediocre to even below par on average. Granted that’s from the angle of Pilsner, porter/stout. Outside of that I only tried Coastal Brewing’s Kölsch. It was drinkable, but rather unremarkable and not as good as Schulz Bräu’s or the Kölsch Yeehaw used to make before they expanded too rapidly and became wildly inconsistent with qc.
@BeeradventurerАй бұрын
@TheAsheybabe89 I have a connection to Charleston, SC from growing up there, until middle school, I hope to go see family and do a brewery run next year. I am lucky I can get their beer in Memphis currently. I do enjoy some from Schulz Brau but don't get to Knox often. Yeehaw is hit or miss with me but I love a good Kolsch. If you get to try Gateway Kolsch from French Broad in Asheville I suggest it. Cheers
