Seems like the excess float was due to power being taken out so late, flare seemed properly timed with how gradual it was. Typically I’d be going towards idle upon crossing the trees, definitely idle above the threshold. Nice landing nonetheless! Speaking from my experience in the 40NG.

Thanks! I am working on a more stable approach at the correct speed then going idle. But those DA40's are so easy to manage in ground effect, right?

@ProbableCause-DanGryder4 ай бұрын
Hi! Got your email so I'm here! Great video, nice job on the edit. Here's your debrief. Remember - we don't have enough time or electrons to fully go over everything that you did excellent on (you had a ton of them) , so a good debrief covers an honest assessment of things that "might" have room for improvement. Here is my notes on what I saw: 1) @12:30 "I want to come in at 75" Your Vref is actually 61, which is 1.3 Vso The winds are calm, I would strive to show a stable approach on the PAPI at Vref to Vref plus 10. This would be 61-71 for a private pilot checkride according to the ACS. Can you fly faster? Yes - but that is what caused your prolonged flare and long float. 2) With calm winds and little turb, try holding the stick steady, instead of all the tiny little control movements. Constant pressure in the correct direction is always the goal. 3) Aim to land on the centerline. With zero wind, you could have made more effort to go back right before the flare. Nothing dangerous, we just like to see a recognition of the trend and some kind of effort to initiate correction. 4) After landing - avoid reaching for anything at high speed. In order, you went flaps up, then boost pump off, whci required eyes, brain, and limb involvement. The only job you have after landing is centerline and decelerate. 5) The next item that you did was landing light off, which was to your left. Notice your body position leaning left, and the fact that the airplane went left when you leaned left? 6) Then the window. Leave your window and all unnecessary congratulations type conversations until you are clear and stopped. Then do anything you want. You asked about some help for your channel, I will make you a deal! Go out and make a second video, same airport, same passenger, same runway. Now fly it and do it right, pointing out the things that you learned from the debrief and how you altered your flying just a tad based on a debrief. THAT would make an excellent educational video, and when if you publish that as info that any pilot can use, I will be glad to feature that video in my channel and it will for sure get you some subs! KZbin is all about how to and education. When you can help someone else you will grow. Deal?
