This is the best version I’ve ever heard of this song. I’ve been singing this song for 40 years and I’ve heard many versions.

We sang it in high school in 1976. I don’t recall any director or clinician delving into the meaning of Donne’s sonnet. It means even more now that I’ve read a few essays on it.

Love the unrushed interpretation on this recording. Written for 126-138 but MUCH better slowly to tell the story.

Brings back memories. Back in 1972, I was an accompanist for Pennsylvania All-State Chorus in Bradford, PA, and also had the male solo in this song. Anthony Barresi was the guest conductor for the festival. This obviously has been modified for all-girl chorus. This is a superb performance. Thanks for posting.

Sang this my senior year in college ; one of my most cherished memories of those times. From the suite of the Frostiana.

I sang first soprano in college on this piece. Hard to believe that I could reach all those high notes then. Some of my favorite pieces. This brings back so many fond memories.

I sang this in high school. I’m not a religious person, but it’s a powerful song. The Choir I was with (CMEA All State) didn’t do such advanced tempo modulations, the intense slowing is quite nice. Thanks.

I sang this in junior college choir for munday thursday.

This is the first hymn I remember learning in Nigeria whilst in primary school . The good Lord has been watching over me always and it’s no coincidence we all learnt this song at school all across the world. ❤ from London
