I appreciated the learning's in the course. It is sometimes difficult for some to understand the impact of racism as it exist. It is a difficult subject for many to talk about. I appreciate the information, examples and statistics that were shown in the class. Sometimes talk is not the only communication that can presented to present the issue. Giving facts, statistics and examples paint a clear picture that most cannot refute. Once again, thank you for the class.

13:40 Call to address institutional racism on much larger scale than name calling or certain personalities, but rather, look at home ownership rates, disparity in infant survival rates, etc. Thinking larger ensures change/impact.

Many thanks to Dr. Anderson for highly valuable and informative lectures. I have been able to take a deeper look at racism and expand my mind concerning the cultural diversity in the USA. It was especially interesting for me as a Russian scholar to learn about institutional racism, to reflect upon it. I have benefited grately from the course.

I appreciate the benefits and understanding of this course, it helps me better understand racism and the reflections from others, living in the world today. The system and Caucasian view on black Americans, Latinos, etc views. the various supporting articles to read and various documentaries I really enjoyed viewing. The challenges faced competing assignments pushed me to drive for completion and understanding. The topic is very interesting and challenging in a whole and rather it will end which i feel it will remain a never ending story, however it will help you navigate accordingly with understanding. i have faced many discrimination but it only made me strive and drive to be better than racism and raise my family to coping and not feeling oppressed nor suppressed because we are all created equal in gods eye.

Thank you I really benefited from this course and was also taking it because I had wanted to know more after the murder of George Floyd. This is a really interesting topic and one we need to do something about. I definitely think systemic racism needs to be looked at further and we need to reflect on how we can change the constant jailing of African Americans brought on by the movie 13th. Policy needs to be against racial discrimination in this country. I wanted to add that I do agree with James Anderson that this would take money and resources to fix. I also appreciated the information on Black Lives Matter because a lot of people seem to think it should be All Lives Matter and do not understand or claim not to.

Thank you so much for continuing the conversation. After listening to Dr. Anderson's lectures on Race and Diversity, I have continued to try and learn about the black history I did not realize so that I might understand the anger of the black community. As with many, I was outraged by the police murder of George Floyd which I watched in disbelief. As a small town country raised woman, I had no idea, but over the past few years, things had been shaking me, waking up to the fact that the police were not protecting everyone the same. But it took George Floyd for me to listen, listen to what the blacks were saying. Then I began reading and watching so I could understand what this 'White Privilege' was. , and how freeing the slaves after the civil war only changed the wording but not the message. No wonder they are mad an fed up and feeling hopeless. '13th' was an amazing film and I have watched many others labeled Black Lives Matter. I am currently reading White Fragility, and all of this effort is leading me to realize this is a white man's problem that we have created and we need to resolve. But until we remove the misguided idea that by giving up our control to allow others a chance to succeed will cause our demise, it won't happen. Until then, I am determined to keep learning, and supporting and labeling myself a white ally to those of other colors. I am a white, retired nurse, and I guarantee you that everyone bleeds red, makes no difference the race, religion, or sexual orientation. Bottom Line.

We need to stop teaching the idea that there is more than one race. There is only one race, the HUMAN race. Skin color is the result of our home being tilted on its axis. The result of this tilt is greater levels of UV radiation in the Southern Hemisphere, in comparison to the Northern Hemisphere. We evolved dark skin (natural sunscreen) in the Southern Hemisphere to protect us from producing too much vitamin D. When we migrated out of Africa, we lost our dark skin (natural sunscreen) in order to maintain the proper level of vitamin D in our system. Teach this, rather than the idea of multiple races.

Race impacts us no matter the tilt of the axis on or universe. Color blindness or race neutrality will never mitigate racism or Anti-Blackness. Unfortunately, often the darker people's skin the less humanity they are afforded by race. These disparities have long been baked in our structures, systems, and institutions such as healthcare, financial institutions, employment systems, educational systems, etc. We need to not only talk about these historical practices but employ actions, practices to change all these disparities.
