Aussie here…just bought one of the last ones (mid-2022). Bloody pencil neck Government administrators with their emission laws made Suzuki discontinue them this year 😫 Made a few essential protection mods. I like your suggestion…tall seat and 2” risers. 👍🏻😁 Nice video mate. Thanks.

I love my DR650. I hardly ride my other bikes. I've ridden mine several hundred miles in a day on asphalt. And the next, thrash her on serious trails. Single or double up riding on all types of terrain. Yr round riding also. And all this on Dunlop 606's. The DR650 is the best duel sport. And the most practical, all around bang for your buck, toughest motorcycle out there. Period!!!!

How do you like the 606 on the front? I've heard a lot of guys put an MT21 on the front, but they wear oddly and quickly. Would rather have the matched set like you. Does the 606 wash out easily on gravel roads? Thanks

I was real happy to recently find a 2020 with 261 miles on the clock. The guy wanted $5250 and I didn't even try to hagle him. He insisted I take 100 back for driving 2 hours to come get it. What a freakin nice guy and his wife too.

I have a 59 200cc I’m saving. Was roched thought was a locker. Turns out motor is fine and solid.. the rest of the bike is missing or toast.. I’ve got a good frame. Motor. Forks. A nice minimal dented tank but not sure what’s paint and what’s buzzard shit.. lol. So I’m going to cafe it. No chopping. Just a cafe seat . I d like to find a correct headlight.

thanks great video I am on my second Dr 650 also had a 600, kick start only, put the 20 liter tank on and 705 tires find them great even in a bit of mud but going for the Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires next, they say they are a better of road in the sand and loos gravel, there are some great videos on them, Have a pair ordered for my Versys 300 X My first choice for a ride is the DR 650 then I like the S40 for short 200 km rids but only in good weather, the Versys has 33 liter side bags and a 46 liter top box, so great for shopping the 46 liter top box also fits on the DR, but am unable to get the side racks for it hear on PEI, If I can get the side tacks for the DR the Versys would do a lot of sitting in the stable. Mine is a 2020 so having the shop do the work for the first year then, will do most of it myself. I took the top chain roller off and put in a set screw with lock tight as I heard they can rip off from the frame, better safe than sorry. again thanks for the great video.

The best adventure bike is the bike you like the best, the one you feel at one with. Doesn't matter what gizmos or gadgets it may or may not have or any influencers belittle you about if you don't own one. Its the one that feels like home.

built a few stock singles over the years. From the factory the bevel gears have grind marks to aid gear alignment. A different story if you use unmatched gears.

Raced these back in the day, never came across a 500CC version, I still have the 436 engine. Surprised the engine could grow so large. Shame they never productionised one.

You can't beat a DR, for ANYTHING you want to do. Mine's a 2011 and I'd just as soon have that as a brand new one. I ride in bike rallies with Harley riders, I ride double trails, single trails, I do overnights and sometimes I just fart around town running errands on it. The DR is the best kept secret in dual sport riding, even though it's not much of a secret amongst dual sporters.

I bought an '09 a few years ago, and the previous owner had done a lot of the mods; bars, pegs, TM40, pipe, steering stabilizer, Trail tech Vapor, Pro moto rack, tail tidy, front fender. I'm doing the Cogent fork kit and NSU mod when it warms up. The bike is tough as nails, and you can turn it into anything you want. I'm sticking with fun town bike/dual sport. If I ever decide to go adventuring, all I need is a fairing and some bags, and there are tons of choices. The DR is a platform. The aftermarket is huge. No wonder they're still popular.
