I worked for harley for 9 yrs back in 2003 i went today for a accelorater pump and a slide . They dont carry them any more they told me i would have to buy a carb to get one. Are you kidding . Who can i order one from vtwim or i guess amazon might that accel pump which is probably 3.60 but i remember having to mark them up 3 times with my tax exempt it was 19.99 just the accelerater pump alone. My employee discount would have been 12.00

I know this question is a little late but I'll ask it anyway. Do you know if the CV carbs on the Buell bikes that came with the sportster motors. Did Eric Buell do any modifications to the CV units that the factory released to the public on his bikes. The reason I'm asking is I can't find any one that can answer that .

should it be on the loose side and not the tight side of the tolerance??? for heat it will expand and make it tighter you think??? and they say oh it will get loose with were, i think not. those bearing are harder then a DIAMOND that steel is super hard it would take a long time to were down and get loose, i have done brake jobs on trucks and cars many hundreds for 29 years and never seen a bearing wear down to be loose they just get rust pits or the race has were marks and the cage gets larger and rollers are rattling loose but you do not lose clearance... now that being said. when do you do a brake job on a truck or a car??? correct about 30-40 thousand miles. now the bearing is most likely not been off for new grease correct??? yep believe me i have been doing this for a very time as a shop foreman union factory tech. and keep those bearing at the loose side of the tolerance. now the Harley book states to check the bearing at 10K and that means when the new tires are installed which i do on my 1990 FXRP and the 1997 FXDL but what about the 2020 FXLR sealed bearings should i just pop in new replacement bearing from the Harley Dealer ???

I know that this is old, but between your explanation and the video of what your hands are actually doing, this is by far the best video on how to install/adjust pushrods. Just put a new cam, oil pump, lifters and pushrods in my 2018 114 Fatboy. I've been asking questions the past few days. I've received answers, but when I went back and tried, I was still lost. Thank you

The original 1988 sportster needle is what you want to put in your bike. Reason being for that year only there was no accelerator pump so the needle was much richer. Here is the part number (N65C, HD #27094-88) No need to shim. Also by following his procedure you will be running at best optimal performance with air cleaner and pipes great video great explanation!

what you said about adjustable needle being juck is very incorrect, actually they are very sought after by the older school boys who build the right way

Hi Brian, great video! I have an 05 883 with stock pipes, stock A/C & stock jets. Thing had no balls, had a bad stutter and carb farts... I followed your guide as far as drilling out and filed the slide, clipped one round off the spring and shimmed the needle... major improvement No more carb farts, a lot more power. Should I still change out my pilot to a 45? Just didn’t have one on hand. The only issue I’m having is if a give the throttle a quick blip, it falls flat and about stalls out... is that too rich now? if I gradually rev it up it’s fine just not giving that quick throttle response. AF is 2 3/4 out. I know the video was intended for pipes and A/C. Any advice would be great. I’m a lot happier with the results than what I was having, just stop and go performance could be better. Thanks

Just pull your choke out about an eighth of an inch if it runs better it’s to lean. Take the needle out of the slide and put a .030 washer underneath it put it back together. I have a 2003 1200 sportster. Low speed screw set at 3 turns. This fixed my throttle response from low speed to high speed and no backfires. I also put a 1/2 a can of sea form in tank every spring to clean out any dirt/varnish in carb. The bike is 18 years old now I’ve never had the carburetor off the bike. Hope that helps

Hello first of all I wanna say that I am o novice on the subject, and second excuse my bad English. To my question. I just bought a 1998 Dyna Wide with the Evo motor, the motorcycle is in extremely nice condition, but there is one thing that I didn't like. First the pipes V&H Short shots, they look fine almost new, but it's way to loud. Don't get me wrong, I like the sound but it's to loud. And I think the idle was not in tuned, so I open up the carburetor just to see if someone messed with it. The main jet was 190 and the other small one (don't remember the name) had number 48 stamped on it, and there was two shims on the needle. When I looked at your video, it sounded like my carburetor is set up for a twin cam motor. One of the reasons I open the carburetor was that my spark plugs vas very sooty (black) do you think that the jets set up is the reason for this? Do you think I should go for the 165 and 45 jets with these pipes on. Don't know if the filter that's on K&N is the original? Or should I by an even more open filter and keep the jets that's on right now? Sorry for al the questions l, just wanted some advice frome someone with experience. Regards /Ronnie (Sweden)
