Like Bezos actually gives a continental about any environmental laws or pisswilie nominal fines His yacht should be impounded and the wood stripped from it before release That might wake up the industry

3trillion trees in the world and the greens make it illegal for you and I, but they have them all over their homes and there toys. Ck out the floor in the vacation home, lots of Brazil rose wood and only the best teak. I know, I used to install it. Then there China. Lol they are busy mowing the forest down in S America. Where is the out cry ? Lots of fine woods out there. If you don’t clean Up the Forrest. God will burn it down.

How do they find captains for all these yachts? Do the captains work as independent contractors? If so, how is the liability handled? A lot in the yachting world is unknown as the lifestyle is totally different than us nine to fivers. lol I think a video of this world would be worthwhile on how and why people get into this world of yachts. Wood Mafia out of Romania is just as horrible as illegal Myanmar wood scandal and going on much longer. There was a time the harvest was under control, of honest government brokers in Romania, corruption has over-run this industry since 2012 here. Ikea denies being part of this, despite building the largest lumberyard in the world right in Romania's forest's edge in the latter 20 teens.. Old growth timber is being devastated here for some time, there are some good documentaries on this subject. ⚓ I hope the sailor is found safe & in good health.⚓

Teak is difficult to source on a vessel that large. If you want a teak deck, rules are going to be bent or broken. There is concern sourcing teak for much smaller vessels here in the US.

Bezos couldnt care less,, they dont live by the rules we do. I had a guitar confiscated in 2020 because it had a rosewood neck,,, thats how it was made . It was up to me to get my $2500 back.

There is no point for a private yacht, that can have a maximum of 12 guests, to be over 50 metres.

If you are unwilling to properly learn and understand European politics, and please refrain from making snarky remarks about government officals. Medvedyev never said he didn't like UK yacht builders, so he is being totally consistent in his opinions. His issue is with the decisions of the governments of certain countries, not the non-political people working in those countries.

A certain conflict was totally avoidable, and Russia wanted to avoid it, but the US, together with the UK, insisted that it had to occur. It is all very sad. The timber should be removed, from the yacht at the owners expense, otherwise the fine just becomes an expense, easily met by bezos

The fine won't even hit Bezos, because there's no way it's his fault. Furthest it would go is Ocean Co. Their responsibility to build a yacht in compliance with regs and to know their supply chain.

Every shipbuilder is aware of the origin of the wood. No need to pretend. A woodworker can usually tell where the wood is from, just by look and feel.
