Thank you for your post! The take was in-depth and a breath of fresh air quite frankly!!! I will make sure I tune in for more content! I agree that McMiller's actions were wrong. They were also indicative of turning college sports from amateur to NIL. Lessons were taught AT THE EXPENSE of a marque match-up that would have had positive ratings for the game. From a recruiting standpoint, if you were interested in Kiyomi enough to sign her, the staff was willing to endure a certain number of "lessons" for a talent such as hers. Coach Washington's and McMiller's actions contributed to a revenue loss. Rutgers emptied the clip to land McMiller. Her style of play creates a hole in Rutgers's offense that the coach is responsible for filling. Even if she is correct, I doubt Coach Washington has a 25-point fix for "lessons taught, but not learned." As for landing spots, just like when Rivers left South Carolina for "in house/culture" issues and landed a home at NC State, where she THRIVED, McMiller will be fine should she choose to leave. Where can she go? TCU, LSU, Auburn, Maryland...That's the short list of Power 5 landing spots for Kiyomi. As a leader, if the reaction/response is worse than the offense, what "lesson" did I "teach". If you want to coach mature, high-character kids, recruit them. If you need to engineer them, then make sure you have personalities that you are capable of cultivating buy-in. Can't just jump at the talent, it has to FIT. How it was handled on both ends shows that there wasn't much trust, teaching, or learning going on in the coach/player dynamic. Questions: 1. What were McMiller's other school choices? 2. When is Washington's contract up? 3. Do you think they keep Adams with this McMiller situation brewing?

@Coach Jones - Due to the style of play, I would like you to breakdown any of Tennessee upcoming conference games. Additionally, Notre Dame and UCLA respective games would be interesting analysis in the future as well. Keep up the amazing job and I hope your players realize how thankful they should be to have you as a coach in their life teaching the game and understanding how it transfer to life lessons. Appreciate you and the content. Your channel deserves to be viewed more but there is a season and due time for everything as everyone is not able to conceptually consume objective analysis. So many coaches and fans will further grow their understanding of the game and situational basketball the more they discover and consume the type of content you are creating.

I read a quote and adopted it: "Did the team get better when you entered the room or when you left the room." The young lady has to decide if she really wants to be a part of this team. I would help her decide really fast because the integrity of the program is at stake. The coach may have learn a very important lesson in the kind of players you recruit.

I for one was looking forward to that USC game, but as a former player and know what the locker room is like on a D1 SEC level, I can see where the coach has to practice discipline if there were actions that were unacceptable. Today’s athletes have it made with the NIL deals they’re getting now; even in high school. But if this player and her camp don’t get it right, then they could be jeopardizing future deals that would not only take care of that player’s future, but her family.

I 1000% agree. I've said it about the men too. These are students and barely adults. The coaches are teachers first. Respect and responsibility have to be a part of their learning and molding. You have to prepare them for life in general.

I hope this finds you well. My take on this is that McMiller is a reflection of her Coach and that her Coach failed her. I also see McMiller as someone with a hot head and behavioral issues. As you said, for the Coach to bench McMiller on such a big game, this had to have been going on for some time. You also mentioned how the Coach ALLOWS McMiller to dribble all over the court without discipline, not play team ball, and not playing defense. Again, what happened is reflective of a Coach that has allowed the behavior to go unchecked. The Coach knew (OR SHOULD HAVE KNOWN) who McMiller was BEFORE she pulled her onto the team. McMiller reminds me of Clark, whereby the Iowa team KNEW that Clark would be a handful coming onto the team. They set up counseling and training sessions for Clark and worked with her on her behavior. That's exactly what McMiller clearly needs. I hope that the Coach recognizes the necessary remedy and puts such a program in place before it becomes a situation where the Coach gets fired in favor of keeping McMiller. Then you will really see McMiller turn into a monster. Congratulations on your channel and much success to you.

Completely disagree with this coach. When she says she has no idea why the coach kept the player out of the game but she supports the coach is wrong wrong wrong wrong. When you do not know the story it is best to keep quiet. Some coaches are all ego. For this coach to totally chastise this player for playing selfish when the coach allows it yet this coach blames the player and not the coach!!! Last but not least this coach says she does not know where else the player can transfer to and play selfishly without realizing the the player may not play the same with a different coach. Being christian does not make a person spiritual or smart!

I agree that basketball is a team game but this is how she plays and to be. honest the team looked bad.since she left losing to USC by 50 and MN by 30!!! maybe. she. knew that as well in Kiyomi McMiller and. was told something. Different from the.Coach....Def should work on. her attitude if its a problem and being a better floor general but she's a stone cold shooter!!! Hope the young Lady can get it all worked out. By the way I don't think saying. what she said was a bad thing just like the Coach got to speak her points so should the Young lady!!!

Couple things: McMiller is from Maryland but played her last 2 years of high school in South Jersey. Idk why she played in Jersey but it's about 30 minutes from RU. I'm not aware of any high school issues. The General Manager of her "team" is Leonard Ellerbee. Yes he used to manage Floyd Mayweather. I heard from some comments that during the game at Maryland McMiller refused to go back in the game after Rutgers was getting blown out. I also heard that McMiller got into a fight with another player in the locker room. Anyone watching the games can see the team is just standing around on offense watching her dribble and that doesn't build chemistry.

One thing I know about ministry is this...God "will never" call you into a ministry on a job and ask you to go against the rules or contract under which you were hired .. God will show you ways to carryout your ministry in a way that lines up with your contract and leader's reasons for hiring you .. that said, your ministry or her ministry should never supersede the main reason you are the coach unless approved by those for whom you work for or were hired by

The coach needs to go. Their top scorer from last season left and transferred to Maryland. Now Miller is probably going to leave. This is not a good look on the coach. When you bench your best player, then turn around and lose by 50 at home when everyone paid money to see the matchup, it's poor decision making. At the end of the day, it's about wins and losses. Rutgers players in a high profile conference. This also affects recruiting. It's going to be hard to convince top players to come to your program, when the best players leave after 1 or 2 years.

Her other teammates are mid af. They lost by 50 the worst home lost in school history. Transferring is the move. I was pissed paying my hard earned money to see that matchup live and bc of this weak coaches mentality. Celebrating the benching without knowing the reason is irresponsible, to say the least.

Sports in general...are a break from the studies. A break in the day recess perhaps. Yes back a few years, schools were making $ off coligate athletes. But the NIL...is nothing but a distraction to being a team player. College sports are in a bad way...filling seats and getting more endorsements is just distraction to the fact that today's outrageous entitled behavior is damaging our day to day life.
