Great interview, we saw Brooklyn and Scott at the Commodore Grille in March 2024. Easy to see the enormous potential especially paired with writers like you. I’ve thought about the challenge of writing for a young artist with an edgy style, it would be easy to cross the line and damage her reputation. I give AGT credit for recognizing that. I’ve been watching Scott for a while and learning from his work to improve my own writing. So thanks for that!

Saw Cameron live at Commodore ( I was on an earlier set that night and stuck around) and I was just blown away. I didn't know that he did country and it was so well done. And on a mic, his voice just had so much presence it was tangible from the audience. :) Got a chance to talk to him briefly afterwards and he was such a sincere, down-to-earth guy. Always happy when these type of people find success in the industry.

I grew up with Jeff in Santa Fe Springs. Reasonably good friends. We only got together once or twice after high school. I always admired his guitar playing and artwork. I’m glad I bumped into this. - Alan

I strum my guitar in the rhythm I want to write then I create the melody. Piano, I usually get a strong pianist so I dont have to trip over wrong notes. Wrong notes and melodies ruins the inspiration of writing in the moment.

So you're Jesse Compton daughter. Well I was so. My name is not important but I was dressed as next door neighbor in Missouri. Walls to walls. Now you'll remember my name. I heard a lot of stories from Best Buy. About. And about Waylon Jennings. And some about you if you're the daughter good took her to Galveston Texas. Or she passed away. Who's my best friend she threw up to my apartment door and tell me tell stories and sing to me.💔💔💔😔😔😌😢

She is not Jesse Compton's Daughter. Jennifer is the Daughter of Duane Eddy and Jessi Colter. And the Stepp Daughter of Waylon Jennings.

Great opportunity for an interview! Still, it seems unusual to mention that the Jennings family were struggling before the 1976 famous Outlaws album. Her mother had a million-selling Pop and Country smash (I’m Not Lisa) and gold album on Capitol Records a full year before the Outlaws album. I guess time blurs a lot of details when one is a kid. Whatever the case, she’s got a really lovely voice and genuine talent. Love the “Ghosts of Women Past” tune! That could be a hit tune in today’s marketplace with the right production.

From what I understand the artists get an advance to cover the cost of production and advertising. They then have to pay that back out of the Pennie’s they make on each album. It’s a tough world.
@jonathankieranwriter9 ай бұрын
@@lilolmecj … but that wasn’t the case for Jessi, according to her interviews, the interviews of her producers at Capitol, Jessi’s own bio, etc. Jessi had been performing and writing since age 16 when she met Duane Eddy (Jenni’s mother), living an LA life in Beverly Hills, writing high profile pop tunes (including ‘If He’d Love Me’ a track on Nancy Sinatra’s “Boots” album). Jessi’s signing with Capitol in 1974 changed everything: Ken Mansfield was her producer and her 1975 album “I’m Jessi Colter” and her single “I’m Not Lisa”-all self-written, soared to the top of the country and pop charts. Jessi was already a major pop star before the “Outlaws” album. Jessi also BOUGHT their Brentwood home, Southern Comfort, in 1976 with HER royalties. Waylon was cash-poor even after the Outlaws success for a number of (ahem) reasons. We need only take the word of RCA’s exec, Jerry Bradley, when he was discussing the entire “plan” for the phenomenal 1976 “Outlaws” album. Keep in mind that Bradley was the head of Waylon’s label up to that time: “Waylon was selling, if we were lucky, 150,000 or 200,000 albums, at best. Meanwhile, Willie was over at Columbia and ‘Red Headed Stranger’ took off and sold a million, and Jessi was at Capitol and released ‘I’m Jessi Colter’ and that thing lit a fire under our asses, sold a million, and we had back-catalogue music from both of them in the vault. We wanted to use their stuff and put Waylon at the top so he might sell a million, too.” What a lot of people forget in hindsight is that Jessi Colter was the bigger sensation and bigger international star before Waylon was, on a competing label. It was a bone of contention in their marriage, to quote Jessi’s late, great producer, Ken Mansfield, who loved both Jessi and Waylon. Not every kid knows their parent’s details and business. BUT, I will say that Jenni is a genuine talent. I bought her mother’s 2023 album, Edge of Forever, and she accompanies Jessi brilliantly on some tracks (especially the closing one) and co-wrote a fantastic song for the album with Margo Price. She is gifted and doesn’t have to “look” like her Mom to be a meaningful artist. Just be herself and write her spirit. I’d buy an album of hers because she has a lovely voice, sings with soul, and is her own person.

This brought tears to my eyes, it was so Lovely. I have always written gospel songs but really never desired to be a recording artist or touring musician. My goal always to put my gospel songs out there and let others run with them. That never happened but that's ok. I am so thrilled to hear that Jenni has taken this path. I look forward to finding Jenni's songs online to order and listen because it is near and dear to my heart. I Am So Blessed, was touching and so real which is something that is lacking in a lot of gospel music these days. God bless Jenni!!!
