Moth balls are highly toxic! Not good for humans and can make you very sick. It produces gas that is heavier than air and will stick to everything and You can never rid of the smell. It will still be there for years.

I have an insulation company at my house right now sucking up everything the can because I followed the directions in this video without knowing what mothballs were. Immediately after dispersing mothballs in my attic the whole house reeked of its chemical smell. We evacuated our house and are spending over $10,000 to fix this mistake. I will tell everyone I know to never use mothballs. Mothballs are toxic.

@@jimihiggins5580 how come farmers use this to keep squirrels out of their attics? How come I don't have any in.my attic using it?

@@jtylermusic Not doubting what you said. I was just surprised to see that on the box. Another question is mothballs harmful to humans or pets?
@jtylermusic20 күн бұрын
@@jimihiggins5580 so, if they are harmful to humans, then millions of us who use them in clothes closets must have been reported as very ill Didn't see any such warnings. Also, what uses are marked on the box?

Btw, you do not need 23" of insulation in your attic. 12" of fiberglass or cellulose is enough.

DO NOT DO THIS. My whole house REEKS of moth balls now (which at this level is harmful to humans). I spent hours removing as many as I could reach, my attic is very short. Even after removing most of them, it still stinks like hell.

🐿 I'm in Western NC and I've been dealing with squirrels that chewed in under our mobile home. Fixed the smallish holes they chewed through, then they began going over top of skirting/underpinning ~ under the rail that holds it on, but over the actual underpinning. I wouldn't have believed it if i didn't see it!!!! I've been adding many screws to try to block them. They are relentless. Every night around 9 or 11, then around 3am they chew, scratch, dig, over, over, over. Driving me batty. I've been live trapping around the last 10 days. I've caught 8 juvenile gray squirrels so far!! Yes eight! I didn't think they could have so many little ones in one litter, but evidently they do! Each time i think that there's no way there's more of them, then that night i hear chewing again. And i want to cry. I never thought id be battling squirrels. I've lived here almost 30 years and thankfully only ever had to deal with little tiny mice. I think something happened to their Mama squirrel and they keep trying to re-enter at night. Maybe for safety? I wish they'd stay in the trees. During the day they're jumping from tree to tree & foraging & scampering like crazy. I'm guessing they're about 13 or 14 weeks old. I dont think they sleep much. They sure don't want me to rest. I've tried mint, pepper, vinegar, epsom salt, playing cat growling videos loudly, moth balls, door knob alarms,etc, etc. The moth balls kept them out for 3 days then they chewed in right beside the bag of moth balls. Pure Craziness!! The door knob alarm works fairly well. I lay one in bathroom cabinet, one in kitchen cabinet and the slightest movement from them makes it alarm! Loudly!! When it alarms, i hear them quickly scampering. I'm hoping I've live~trapped them all and hopefully repaired every possible entry point. Everyone kept telling me that it couldn't be gray squirrels because they sleep at night.... Not these wild ones! 🌻🦋🌼

🐿🐿 I've been battling squirrels too. It's very draining ~ mentally & physically. I live in a mobile home and they had chewed through the underpinning/skirting, I stopped up those couple places, they chewed more, stopped those up, THEN they started going over top of underpinning ~ under the top rail that holds underpinning on, but actually over top of it! It's been crazy. I've been setting a live trap with apple pieces, peanut butter and things like that. I've live~trapped EIGHT juvenile squirrels so far! I'm praying that's all of them. Got the 8th one today! I believe they're approx 13 or 14 weeks old. I haven't seen their mama, so I'm thinking she may have gotten run over or something... Not sure. Good luck with the squirrels. They are relentless. Just nonstop. (Plus I think they laugh at me and point their little paws at me & say ha ha ha, we're so mean to her!😊!🌝) Folks told me that it couldn't be gray squirrels chewing at night. They said they sleep at night. But not these ones! I'm really not sure when or if they sleep.

These contain naphthalene which is highly flammable and toxic. They can easily catch fire in an attic. I’m sure it works, but the risk isn’t worth it. Try something else like repellent spray.
