Extremely powerful scene. It’s a shame people glean the wrong lessons from it.

its like he reached down deep inside and dragged this out from past experiences. This was great, and you could feel his anger coming out with every word spoken. phenomenal.

So he is speaking thru his pain and validating his own failures as just. The son just needs a little compassion and if his father won't give it to him. The world, aka other people most certainly won't. Great acting in a bad scene when the son walks away broken

Fathers like this don’t deserve the kids they have. My Grandad grew up as a black man in the Great Depression, did everything from building a house, to fighting in wars, and NEVER made his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids feel like they weren’t loved. Any parent that says something like “I feed you, I clothed you, I put a root over your head” like that’s something to brag about and not the bare minimum is a scumbag that doesn’t deserve their kids.

That's not a portrayal of a good dad at all. I see a power tripping boomer bullying and belittling and likely traumatizing his kid.

This is misleading, that abusive piece of shit is a lazy fuck who has never respected the people he works for, he wants nothing more than to slap his wife and children around. He is a brute, unintwrested in money and in love with being a king. What the play doesnt say is that entiteled bitch boomer will never in his fucking life stop hiding the fact that he raped and abused you and forcing you to feel bad about it while he gets paid for it. This is what no arts loser can tell you
