Could you do a video on how you bring in work from day 1 and how you start your company from scratch, staff, jobs etc.. I'm guessing you are not on the tools? I am a gas engineer and and work is always hit and miss and find it difficult to stay busy over the warmer months..

Great suggestion Brendan - I'm actually working on a series of short videos that cover how to start a plumbing business :). You've got a few options to stay busy during the summer, including encouraging customers to move their boiler servicing to summer months for greater peace of mind; expanding the services you offer - doesn't have to be bathrooms! Could be other plumbing jobs, or even getting a WaterSafe accreditation or moving into Commercial water or gas. What have you tried so far? H

Hello, I started my 14 day trial and today is my last day and came across your KZbin video while still doing research on the program. Would I still be able to use your code even though I already signed up for the free trial? Thanks.

Hi, I’m not sure if you can help me, but I don’t want staff to see costings, but I need them to see attachments and the only way they can see attachments is if I put them on a staff default so they can see costings- can you recommend a way I can do this? Thank you

I’ve been in the Trade for 50 years & the best two tips I have; Cash is King!!......Any job paid for before you leave the customers’ property. Invoice people & you then become a Debt Collector & not a Plumber. You don’t get out of Tesco without paying. Never have a Partner!!.........There’s always a lack of trust, just don’t do it. If they’re a good Tradesman, employ them. Always be the Boss!! I ran a very successful Plumbing & Heating business for over 34 years & retired at 50. ❤ Dick Puller.

Not sure why this video only has 1.1k views. I think it's sums things up well. I have had a heating business for 30 years.. its a horrible trade.. I love the job, the clients, I love it all EXCEPT the awful impact on home life, yes have a separate phone, so long as you don't mind clients not being able to call you on an emergency( possibly even an emergency because of something you did.. yes even I can have a leak... rare vert rare but possible) No one should go into the plumbing and heating industry without accepting the huge impact on personal life.

100% correct, you or someone else within your organisation, must be available 24/7. It’s Plumbing FFS!! Customers don’t have major leaks within office hours. Set up a Stand-By rota & charge like a Rhino for out-if-hours call outs.

absolutely! you can set up a free discovery call with me here calendly.com/speakwithhazel/servicem8-discovery-call and there's just enough time to grab their 50% off for 6 months promotion if you sign up and jump onto a plan before tomorrow www.hazelwhicher.co.uk/get/servicem8 (although i appreciate that's a bit tight for making a decision...)

Hey There, thank you for sharing your tips. Where do you keep your knowledge base ? There is an option for that in servicem8 but only in premium plan which I don't currently need. Are there any alternatives online ? Thanks

Hey igor! Thanks! A simple google docs document is all you need, at least initially. It can be shared online and you can add headers and sections. You could also pop links to it in your ServiceM8 account

Very useful and informative. A definite addition I need to do for my ServiceM8 system. I’ve done some SMS templates but never thought of a booking confirmation email. I assume these can be automated on ServiceM8 though the built in automation.

Rowe-NET hey, thanks! You’d have to change the way you confirmed the time - ie make it ‘we’ll arrive within X hours of 9am’ but yes, this would work as an automated email :)

Hazel Whicher was thinking the arrival time would need to be reworded to state an arrival window with the booking time. I’m all for automating some of the simpler tasks in ServiceM8 and it helps to give a level of professionalism for the customer. I look forward to any future videos you upload and have indeed subscribed 👍🏻
