Had no idea this was a thing until I saw it in a comment for another video where a dude drilled all sorts of holes into his Blues Jr. Man. I've been holding off on any speaker mods because I refuse to get anything that ain't a Celestion Gold/Blue for the Blues Jr. Thank you sir.

Be very careful removing the bell. I did this on another one and thought "oh, I know what I'm doing, blah blah, blah." and I didn't take long enough with the dryer to melt the glue holding it on and I forced it off and damaged it to the point where I had to have the speaker re-coned. Just take your time, go slow and don't force it.

Sweet record collection. I owned most of them. Not as much of a Springsteen fan as you. No Darkness? I lost my copy of "My Affect is Appropriate" and I can't find a replacement. Help! Can you post it on KZbin?

I definitely have Darkness somewhere! Love that one. But a lost copy of My Affect?? Wow. It is long out of print and sadly never made it to the digital realm. I'd be hard pressed to put my hand on a copy, which I know, is kind of crazy. I think my Mom still has one. Those songs are a lifetime ago. How close was the magnet to the tubes once it was installed? I knew this could be done but have hesitated to do it my carr rambler because the magnet would sit within half an inch of the 6l6s and I've been told it will interfere with the proper functioning of the tubes.

Less than an inch. More likely about 1/2 inch.

Hey mate, I struggled with that Idea too. But I made it different way - just replaced a baffle board and made my BJ front-loaded. Just another one small feature of front loading is the ease of speaker swapping - you just don't need to mess with the chasis unmounting after that.
