Oh, it's the next one where we talked about how Tom Flynn invented grunge. This is just the one where I said Tom Flynn sold me back the Hits of Acid master tapes for 100 bucks.

3:12 Josh misheard me. I did kind of trail off, but I said "Pat Smear, I don't know about him..." Meaning, I don't know if he likes Bomb like the other three guys in Nirvana" (the thing we were talking about just before that.) Josh then asks me why I don't like Pat. lol. Either Josh misheard "I don't know about him" as "I don't like him" (which I did not say,), or misread "I don't know about him" as not liking him, since people do use it like that. It was just me having no idea whether Pat's even heard Bomb or not. Yes, I'm going to annotate the hell out of these. I enjoyed this interview, but I usually do email interviews where I have a while to say it, read it, correct it, etc. Worms! (are good for gardens!)

Josh's bagel restaurant should sell a bagel topping called "Pat Schmear." CORRECTION: At 16:35, I incorrectly remembered the name of the type kind of Democracy Krist Novoselic wants. I called it "Representational Democracy (which is what the US already has), and then I described Proportional Representation. Proportional Representation is Krist advocates for. (He's also into " electoral reform, "especially instant-runoff voting"). It's more nuanced that that, but here's a good interview with him in Reason Magazine where he explains it all, he also talks about it in the interview I did with him that's on KZbin. ANOTHER CORRECTION: Right after that I said that Norway sent bankers to prison for messing up the economy, it was actually Iceland. (See? This is what I don't like to talk politics!) NOTE on your CORRECTION: Your correcting of my statement about European taxes doesn't include all taxes, just income taxes. I was counting all taxes. You're right, I did say "income tax", but you know. small-L libertarians count all taxes. Even people with no job pay taxes (income tax, increased rent, increased gas prices, increased food prices because of gas tax, etc). "Norway Salary income including employer's national insurance contributions 55.8 %", ......plus sales tax, property tax, gas tax, etc. High tax on employer makes everything else raise, so makes everything go higher. If you look at US income tax on someone making a decent living it's about 50 percent when you put all that in, including taxing things twice....like taxing income, then sales tax when you spend it. There's a lot of double and triple taxing in all countries and it adds up.
@PRPOTUSАй бұрын
Except in the US we dont have many of the benefits the citizens of those countries enjoy.
@Microtonal_CatsАй бұрын
@@PRPOTUS Josh, lovingly....your reply there is what's called "Whataboutism", and it's a logical fallacy. You are correct, the "Safety Net" is wider there, and they have more museums, and college is free there, but I didn't say it wasn't. I just said the taxes are 80 some percent, and they are, with everything factored in. (But that does mean it's next to impossible to do the "American Dream" thing of working your ass off there, and getting enough money to do whatever you want, and pass it on to your children.) Your reply here is another BIG reason I don't like to talk politics. I say some simplified thing in passing about a tiny aspect of a political system (in another country), and someone (invariably, not just you) says "OH, BUT YOU DIDN'T MENTION THIS AND THAT AND THIS AND THAT....." But how can I enumerate the entire political structure of a country.... in a parenthetical between taking about Fang and Nirvana? Remember, at the end of this interview I invited you to stay and do 3 more hours, but you had to jet.
@Microtonal_CatsАй бұрын
@@PRPOTUS Lovingly sir, this is whataboutism. I didn't SAY they don't have more benefits, and I was trying to get back to the punk rock. I said one sentence in passing and you're dinging me for not making it a paragraph, in a parenthetical between taking about Fang and Nirvana. This is a big reason I don't talk politics. People are never happy with what you say unless you say what they're thinking, or what to hear.

Thanks. Was a long time ago and wasn't a sad thing really, since he lived so long and was healthy up to the end. Far more sad was when my daughter died of leukemia at 24.

I loved your interviews with your dad on Freedom Feens. He was fun, had a good story to tell, and knew that Obama's feet stink. Being the dad of a 20 year old girl, it often terrifies me to even imagine losing her (or my other younger two). I know the word "sorry" does nothing. So, I don't say it. Terrible isn't even an apt description of what the three of you went through.

Greg Norton is one of the most genuine, honest, kind and down to earth person you could ever meet. It is great to see him forming and playing in Ultrabomb. I love the honesty and no BS story of Greg forming Ultrabomb and his commonsense opinions on the state of our nation. My first impression of the interviewer was " I think Greg might be annoyed". After about 15 minutes, I realized I was wrong. Punk Rock President was able to create an environment where Greg appeared to be comfortable and was able to have a candid conversation with Greg.

Dance Hall Crashers was one of my favorite bands I have had the pleasure to be part of. The Gilman St. club scene and the 1053 Kains Ave. Albany house where Matt Tim and I lived was always the after the Gilman St. show hang out and touring band crash pad. Good times and good people!
