There is no battle, how can anyone even start this kind of debate. Luka was superb from start till the end in all 80+ games while Trae was very bad in the first 50+ games and in the last 20+ games mostly just good (once only 15 points and even once only 12 points). There was just like three games of those 20+ that he was very good. And for me, the 40+ points in one game is NOTHING SPECIAL as Trae playing time was almost 60 minutes like two games, not one. If you want to be objective the only way is to make a decision based on statistics results from the first day of the NBA season till the end (that's why it is called The Rooke of the YEAR) and by those stats, it is Luka Doncic. And there is also a matter of defense. Doncic was average and Trae was the worst in the NBA. How many blocks did Trae give and how many Luka, how many dunks by Trae and how many by Luka, how many triple-doubles by Trae? And regarding assists. More than 60% pending on co-players and only 40% of the player who is making assists. And Luka lost all his team players after All-start and got completely new players which did not know his moves... and Luka still keep playing superb!
