One thing i think works well though (in the interest of being effectively positive) is simply paying ZERO attention to any negativity, and exclusively commending positivity or good strong mentals when you see it. Postive attention goes a long way for mammals (humans included)... and this works whether its some short tempered friend in vc or a stranger in chat

wow this video was so phenomenal i was compelled to not only watch it twice BUT TAKE NOTES. So here's my contribution to this discussion. -Quite Simply not only do i believe in toxic positivity but i've been regarded as such myself (in regards to league specifically) -i never ever considered the notion that toxic positivity could be internal rather than simply external but ofc it is, most of society is projection anyways -i always saw toxic positivity as something i used to deliberately look down on others and an excuse to refuse to even attempt to empathize nor even sympathize with the person/people i was pinning as toxic and that definitely set me really far back because i didnt realize how unbalance that was let alone toxic -much like chasing most things i never attained authentic satisfaction from chasing this positivity i wanted to find in league or even my personal life -though i agree that saying it could be a worse and you'll get over it isn't very sustainable i do see it as fake self soothing or the first half of self soothing because rather than leaving it at that , i do believe an emotionally mature person would take it a step further by REFRAMING rather than diminishing the negative experience via comparison and having the mindset that there are factors to be greatful for rather than invalidating the negative parts (you are instead focusing on the positive parts) and in addition to that saying you'll get over it is great, but only if that is part of a bigger process involving accepting and embracing the bad thing you want to get over. because regardless its still important to sit with whatever is afflicting you and allow it to flow through u/move on in due time. -i can see how this can stem from neediness -my own interpretation involved dysfunctionality and unsustainability and i love these new translations and perspectives alright ill leave it at that, thank you for the video
