Do you have a recording of the actual time and temp voice? I moved overseas and I really miss it, as funny as that sounds lol.

An hour ago I saw a photo of Mel lying in bed while voicing the Flintstones. I had never heard the story at all. Jumped on yt and found your perfect spot on the subject! Good job! Do you happen to know what kind of car he was driving? Cheers

It wasn't only the Williams brothers and their American Sign & Indicator firm. You also had Edward J. Schulenberg and his business, Time-O-Matic; the way that company's time and temp displays were laid out differed significantly. Barnett National Bank's was Time-O-Matic's "Time-O-Temp" system, with 4 x 7 'open throat' numerals.

The show originated 1949-1956 at WBKB-TV that today is WLS-TV7, Chicago. The program aired Sunday afternoons at 5pm eastern on ABC network. Ringmaster Claude Kirchner hosted a number of children's programs. He stood 6 ft. 6in.

I actually run a time and temp line out of my house that serves my local county. I don't see anywhere near the 10,000 calls you mentioned, but it does get a few hundred calls a month.

Hey, a few hundred in 2022 is doing pretty good! It's cool that you do this.

Interesting the Camel"s commercial referenced a study of throat irritation to "prove" Camel cigarettes were mild to smoke. This is of course before Surgeon General's warning that cigarettes cause cancer.

Ed Wynn was hilarious, I love his humor. Sadly he passed away the day I was born (June 19, 1966). Thank you for putting this video on KZbin.

IMDB lists this as S01E16 .. airdate January 21st, 1950. Discrepancy possibly due to the fact that it aired on different dates on the East and West coast .. Kinescopes airing on the East coast at a latter date. Nice work on the restoration. Much better than my other copy!

The stars who did radio certainly did have live audience experience, since most of the scripted radio shows had live studio audiences.

This is awesome! I'm so used to trying to watch tired, worn out old kinescopes. Amazing to almost see what it was like when it was televised. The audio is so clean too. One of the few hit early TV shows that were live in LA and kinescoped to New York. It was almost always the other way around. This is how "I Love Lucy" would've looked if Desi didn't come up with the motion-picture 3-camera set-up that would become standard. I wish these restored shows were on DVD. I would love to watch them on my '49 Admiral console TV.

18:30 - Herb Alpert?
@RetroTube555 жыл бұрын
Yes! on April 22nd of that year he had a special on CBS promoting his latest album and if you look very closely at 18:33, it's literally just a couple frames, there is a very short clip of that special as well. Good find! Thanks for watching

It's a shame you had to upload it with your water mark. i'd like to watch it on one of my vintage TV sets, but because it was uploaded as 16:9 content rather than 4:3 it doesn't fill the screen.

The way this "fall preview" was assembled, it could be presented as a complete special- or the previews of each new show could be aired individually, in various time periods around the local station's schedule wherever a few minutes was "open" {during a movie, or after a newscast}. The "window" these previews- or the full half-hour - could be shown was between August and September 22nd, 1968.

Lancer had promise, but even Andrew Duggan couldn't keep series longer than two seasons.
@fromthesidelines5 жыл бұрын
The series had decent ratings in the first season, but its competition- "THE MOD SQUAD", on ABC- attracted more viewers, and season two was "disappointing" to the network......and that's why they cancelled it in 1970.

1,, It showed Lucy but now Lucy 2. It went until Thursday but no Friday. 3. I did not realize Mayberry RFD ran three years. Worse show I ever saw. 4. Hawaii 5-0 became a legend. These are the only two shows you can call winners. All the rest were losers!
@fromthesidelines5 жыл бұрын
That's because there were no new programs scheduled on Fridays that fall. CBS continued its successful lineup of "THE WILD WILD WEST", "GOMER PYLE, U.S.M.C." and "THE CBS FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIES".

Originally shown LIVE on the West Coast on January 14, 1950. Yes, this kinescope was telecast on the East Coast (including New York) on January 21, 1950. There were no live "coast-to-coast" television transmissions at the time, because coaxial cables weren't in place yet [and wouldn't be, until September 1951].

Thank you Jim! I also am a huge fan and did not know about his show until recently. If you didn't know, I also have another of his episodes here on KZbin which looks way better than this one as I learn to improve the looks of these as I go. The greatest part is the other episode features The Three Stooges!
