Brits need to remember that the USA is a huge country and the stereotypical dumbed down American comedy is not ubiquitous throughout. Americans that don't understand or laugh at this annoy us as much as they annoy you. What passes for comedy in L.A. would get crickets in the Midwest. I once poked fun at a shirt someone from California was wearing and they got upset instead of recognizing the obvious joke. It was odd.

How can this have been so good, and the American remake so poor. Should have been used as a case study as to never try to translate British humour to other markets. They should either like it as it is, or not watch it. Original is ALWAYS best.
